A good beginning is half the battle. Primary school life is over, and children step into the middle school gate with curiosity about the new environment, new teachers and new classmates. They are full of expectations for the first class and the appearance of the teacher. Therefore, a good first English class in junior high school will have a multiplier effect on English teaching in the future. So, how to make the first English class in Grade One more vivid and effective, and make students more interested in learning? I have been engaged in front-line teaching for more than 20 years, constantly reflecting and summarizing my teaching methods, and conducting small-scale research in this area. I tried the following methods, and the results were very good, which played a good role in paving the way for students' subsequent English learning.
First of all, introduce yourself easily and happily.
In the first class, students are most eager to know some personal information about the teacher, so they can't give lectures as soon as they come up. This link is the key for teachers to establish a good image in students' minds. I did this: I walked into the classroom with a smile on my face. First, I took a look at all my classmates. Secondly, introduce yourself: Hello, I am your new teacher this semester. Do you want to know me? Let me introduce myself. I wrote on the blackboard: daughter, parents, workers, sons, students, teachers, travel, mountains, photos, singers. Then say I'm a daughter first. My parents are both workers. They work hard to give us a better life. I think they are great. Now they are old. Yes. You are over seventy years old. My father is very healthy, but my mother is very ill. I always take care of her. I'm very worried about her. I have a son … he is a college student. He studied in 10 middle school like you a few years ago. He studies hard. He likes reading, playing basketball and swimming. He is ten years older than you. I am a teacher. I have been an English teacher for 25 years. I like teaching. I hope I can become a better and better teacher. I like traveling. I have been to Beijing, Yunnan, Gu Lin, Chongqing, Shanghai and so on. I also like climbing mountains around Qinhuangdao with my friends on weekends. I took many photos. I think traveling can broaden our horizons and relax me. Finally, I am a singer. Although I don't have a good voice, I like singing. Now I want to sing a song for you ―― Yesterday.
All the students listened carefully and showed their happy eyes. The students' attention is completely under my control. When the students were still in high spirits, I said, I will tell you a true and classic story. The students stared at me with a glimmer of expectation in their eyes. This link is mainly to tell students some English learning methods. There is a student in New Oriental. He began to recite the third book of New Concept English in grade one and didn't finish it until grade three. He entered Peking University in the college entrance examination. After entering Peking University, he didn't want to insist on reciting any more. However, when he recited it to his classmates, all the other classmates showed envious eyes, so for this vanity, he began to recite the fourth book and knew the third and fourth books by heart. To what extent? If someone says any of them, he can recite them, and it is very standard, because he follows the tape. Later, the student went to the United States for further study and wrote an article in the first week. The professor said that his article was plagiarized because it was so good. The professor said: "In my 20 years of teaching career, no student has written such a good article." The student said that he could not prove that he could write such an excellent article, but he told the professor that he could recite 108 texts. After he recited several articles for the professor, the professor began to cry. Why? Because the professor thinks that he has been teaching for 20 years and has never recited a single article, but all the students in China have recited it, so he is very sad. ...
The students laughed heartily after listening, so I made a request: from now on, we should also listen to the tape recording and recite words and texts. This will not only make our sense of language better, but also greatly improve our oral, writing and listening skills. I believe that students will learn English well in junior high school.
Second, the distribution of questionnaires.
Pay attention to the first class. If you don't know the students' learning situation, you can first get a questionnaire to see the students' English learning foundation and interest. A survey of English learning in Grade One;
1. Your attitude towards English is () A. Very interested B. Interest is average C. Don't like it.
2. Your English grade in primary school ()
A. very good B. poor C.
3. Do you think the purpose of English learning is _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.
4. Can you read English words by looking at the phonetic symbols? () A. Yes B. No.
I have studied English in primary school for six years, and I think the most difficult thing is _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (memorizing words, English grammar, reading and endorsing, listening, reading and writing ……).
6. My favorite English homework is () A. Copying words B. Reading and endorsing C. Doing problems.
This year is the first day of junior high school and the most crucial year. In order not to leave regrets for myself, do I have the determination and confidence to improve my English with my teacher? What can I do to learn English well?
8. What do I want my English teacher to do in order to make my English score better? Please give your English teacher some advice (including classroom teaching, homework, guidance, etc.). ).
Through the investigation, statistics and targeted teaching of students, because education should first know what children need, rather than being forced by teachers blindly. Moreover, reading children's feedback forms regularly is not only the right medicine, but also a constant spur to the follow-up work.
Third, teach students how to learn English.
1. Take the lead in listening and speaking, and keep up with reading and writing. Only through comprehensive training of listening, speaking, reading and writing can we cultivate students' ability to communicate in English better and faster.
2. Learning English is to imitate the gourd. Try to imitate, which is the most basic common sense in English learning. To imitate the pronunciation on the tape, we should try our best to be like the speaker on the tape. Tape is the best teacher and the best study partner. Tapes will never get tired, never get tired, and never ask you for more money!
3. Repetition is the mother of skills. There is an English proverb "Repetition is the mother of skills". You can recall the process of learning any skill. Whether swimming or cycling, it is a process of repeating the same action. The acquisition of any skill, including English, of course comes from repetition. At the beginning of learning spoken English, the principle of repetition is more important.
Reciting is the golden key to learning English well. Recite accurately, like it and remember it well. Memorize words, phrases, typical sentences, excellent articles and model essays.
Fourth, put forward requirements for students.
1. Attitude determines everything, and details determine success or failure. If you want to learn English well, you must have a correct learning attitude.
2. Have a scientific learning method. "I heard that lead, read and write to keep up. Learning English is like painting a gourd. Repetition is the mother of skills. Memorizing typical sentences should be accurate, vivid and easy to remember. Studying diligently without thinking is useless, and thinking without learning is dangerous. Learn, learn, learn and ask. Self-study is the best teacher. "
3. Pay attention to the foundation. "Thousands of tall buildings have gone up." Never underestimate the foundation. The simplest things are often the most important. Learning English starts with simplicity. Simple-good, simpler-better, simplest-best. Only from a simple start, it is easy to get started, generate "interest" and carry things on. We should learn 26 letters, 48 phonetic symbols and three basic sentence patterns well from the beginning. A good beginning is half the battle. From now on.
4. Learning English is fearless and aggressive. For us, English is a foreign language, and it is natural for beginners to make mistakes or mispronounce. Therefore, we should dispel our fears, practice actively and boldly, and don't be afraid of making mistakes, reading incorrectly, or even laughing at others. Don't be afraid, have a try.
In short, the first class is not only related to the image of teachers in students' minds, but also directly affects students' enthusiasm for learning English in the future. In the first class, improving students' interest in learning English, enhancing students' confidence in learning English and teaching students the methods of learning English will surely be the first step to the success of English teaching.
