As a former early education worker, I know the importance of language sensitive period. It is said that if you give him two languages, he can master them easily. Even if you can master 10, children can still master them. Although I think this conclusion is a bit exaggerated, it also shows that investing in children at every critical period will get twice the result with half the effort.

But speaking of this English enlightenment, I believe that most ordinary mothers are as confused as me. I don't know how to start, how to create the so-called English atmosphere, and how to test the results.

Let me first talk about some efforts I made for English during my three years as a child.

I still remember that the earliest picture books I bought for my son were all in English. I think the original picture book may be able to plant the seeds of enlightenment in his young mind. I read him English picture books when he was a few months old. My English actually belongs to dumb English, and I can't speak it at all. I gave up after reading it.

Although the child actively participates every time, I always feel that he doesn't seem to understand.

2. English nursery rhymes

English nursery rhymes, I didn't know what to listen to at first. In short, I'm just looking around, as if I think it's only English. If you want to seize that sensitive period, just give it to him. But my son is very familiar with music, and I have never heard him sing the specific lyrics once.

3. cartoons

We didn't have much time to watch cartoons until we went to kindergarten at the age of 3. I thought about watching the English version of Peggy Piggy, but the children were very resistant. At the age of more than 3 years old, his Chinese is actually quite strong. He clearly told me that he couldn't understand it and asked to see Chinese.

After that, I personally felt quite depressed. Even if I had known that English should be enlightened, what's the use? I still learn from the east and the west. Children can know some animals in the zoo and fruits at home, but they won't make sentences like I thought.

In a blink of an eye, Bran Boy is 3 years old and 6 months old. In fact, during this period, I read many bloggers' introductions and began to understand graded reading. I have begun to understand why the English picture book I bought before is not attractive to children, but it has increased my burden. I have to translate before I tell it to my children, which makes me exhausted. I began to know that I needed to give him something suitable for his present level. Now I would like to share with you some small experiences I have gained in the past two months. I hope it will be of great help to everyone.

Six months after others recommended the Oxford tree, I still got into the full set of Oxford trees. I reiterate here that I am not selling Oxford trees. I just want to talk about how I use this set of books to study with my children. Because our English study has undergone a qualitative change after buying this set of books, I began to look for some directions, which I think can be applied to ordinary mothers in ordinary families.

I have always advocated that parents are the best tools for study partners, so I really didn't think about buying some reading pens for my children. Until one day, a blogger moved me. She said that her mother, who speaks poor English, is a lifesaver. I'm skeptical about this. I will look up words I don't know and read them myself. I don't know if my pronunciation is standard, but reading a pen can really save me. I won't. She read them out, and then I can really guess the meaning by combining the pictures.

I must say a few more words here, don't give your child a stylus or any tools, IPAD online courses, which will not work. Parents and children should watch it. The point reading pen is just a tool for me and my children to learn more about the original sound.

There are many kinds of graded reading. I finally chose the Oxford tree. To be honest, I chose a more impulsive element and I originally bought a matching point reading pen. But how to read and use graded books, I want to focus on my methods here.

I think many people say that grading is the first time for children to order by themselves. The best thing about the Oxford tree is that I think it's interesting and its sound effects. It is not only in English, but also equipped with scene sounds, such as the barking of dogs, such as the wind, such as people's laughter, which are of interest to children. The second time, let the children order sentences to see if they can keep up. The third time, read another book until the children can repeat the content.

From extensive reading to intensive reading, I think it really needs to be adjusted according to each child's situation. Remember what our goal is, and the goal is to say this sentence at last.

My first few days with Bran boy were very painful. He boycotted English. He said he didn't understand and didn't want to see it. Then I watched it myself, and I smiled and made him curious about the content. On the first day, even he just ordered the sound effects he wanted to hear. Slowly, he is willing to follow.

Here is a very important sentence to remind everyone that only by studying with children and studying with children can we achieve good results.

Children like our family are so old and Chinese is so good that they naturally don't want to try English directly. I will tell him stories, first tell each story well, then let him read English, and then discuss the following questions with him in Chinese, so that he can better understand the stories.

In this way, in less than two months, the Oxford Tree has 1+ 36 volumes, and he can read about 12 volumes by himself.

It's hard to talk, and the older the child, the easier it is to meet.

Our family, what is my solution?

I'll say it myself first. If I can't say it myself, I won't force the child to say it.

For example, the first English I speak to my children is red light and green light. It's a sentence I read in a book, and then I send him to school every day. When I saw the traffic lights after school, I said, the red light stops. The baby will be born in a few days.

For example, there is a book called hide-and-seek on the Oxford tree, and I will take him to play games. I hid and said, can you see me? Help him understand the meaning of this sentence.

Later, he began to say sentences by himself, such as, can I have a biscuit? And slowly I found that he would change the nouns in sentence patterns by himself, such as ice cream.

I believe this is an English thinking rather than memorizing words.

Having said that, the most important thing is that as parents, we need to use all the sentences in books and nursery rhymes in our lives to make him not resist English. Then everything will follow.

When we let go of our utilitarian heart, it is time to wait for flowers to bloom and harvest fruits!
