Foreigners in Shanghai account for 40%, and it can be said that foreigners in a school also account for about 40%. Among the migrants, they have their own dialects. If we want to promote the early education of pure Lu language, it is absolutely unnecessary to let foreigners learn Shanghai dialect.
It is often more effective for children to learn dialects from adults "unintentionally" than "intentionally". If a foreign child knows nothing about Lu, he still has to take classes, which will affect his Putonghua study to some extent.
After a foreigner arrives in the local area, he can actually learn the local language as long as he stays for a period of time. Just as I have been in Guangdong for more than ten years, I have also learned the vernacular and Leizhou dialect. I have never deliberately studied it, just because my friends basically speak vernacular and Leizhou dialect, so I will understand it naturally after listening to it more, and then I will speak slowly.
In order to preserve dialects, it is not important for children to learn, but for adults to speak more. Putonghua is now advocated. On the one hand, teachers emphasize that parents should speak Mandarin with their children. On the other hand, children should master their hometown dialect. This is simply a contradiction, and it is difficult to achieve good results.
Every place has dialects, some of which are not very different from Mandarin, while others are very different. But no matter how big the difference is, the best place for children to learn dialects is at home, and the best teachers are parents and relatives, not the classroom.
