I have been a teacher for a long time and have met many students and parents. There is a popular saying among teachers that children are the shadows of their parents. What kind of parents have what kind of children. So I gradually feel that parents are not only the starting line of children, but also the ceiling of children. The level and vision of parents limit the development space of children to some extent.

My husband's home is in the countryside. Many of his peers stopped studying after a few years. One reason is that they have no money. More importantly, because of parents' ignorance and short-sightedness, they think it is not worthwhile to invest a lot of money in schools. A classmate's boss, when his children are studying, is not particularly excellent. In those days when thousands of troops were crowded on a single-plank bridge, there was no advantage at all, but their parents had the foresight to go abroad directly to study in universities and finally return to China. Their jobs were excellent and their wages were very generous.

My friend's mother knew it was useful to learn computer and English in the 1970s. At that time, no one attended remedial classes at all, and she was willing to pay for tutoring her children. As a result, her children started their own businesses after work and made their first pot of gold by using English and computers.

Among the students I have taught, many children are both sensible and clever. In the lower grades of primary school, the knowledge density is not very large. It's time to develop behavior. If children are smart and sensible, they can ensure that they will not fall behind in the class, which will often give parents an illusion that they think their children are fine. However, with the growth of grades and the improvement of knowledge difficulty, the competition among students is not limited to schools.

In some well-known primary and secondary schools in Beijing, student activities are not inferior to those of universities. There are solo exhibitions, solo concerts and competitions at all levels in primary schools. Is it enough to rely solely on school? Speaking of this, some people think that I, as a teacher, give such an example, isn't it suggesting that parents should give more lessons to their children? Then why do you need your school? In fact, this question is easy to understand. School education is the foundation, facing the public, and it is impossible to meet everyone's needs. If you want to get more educational resources, learn more things and have stronger competitiveness, it is definitely not enough to rely solely on schools.

I have taught two such students.

Xiaoji, whose parents are the most ordinary employees, teaches children to believe in the tactics of asking the sea, and a dutiful son is born under the stick. All exercises must be done correctly. Therefore, children are outstanding academically. However, he has no advantage except school. Love learning, he didn't accept more learning, and of course it is impossible to compare with his classmates who are learning piano, dance, fencing and Go. I don't care about dealing with people and discipline, so naturally it's hard to win more prestige. Due to the limitation of parents' knowledge and economic level, it is impossible for him to go out during the holidays, get in touch with more worlds and get lost in his vision and ambition again.

Another student, Xiao Li, is more sensible and independent among boys. He doesn't fool around with other students, strictly abides by the teacher's requirements, takes care of his life completely, and completes all the school homework activities independently. Even in the big environment where middle school students still need parents to pick them up, he goes to school by himself. From the teacher's point of view, he is definitely a good student. However, the competition among children now extends from school, from classroom to off-campus and after class. Other children may not be as conscientious and sensible as he is, or even obedient as he is, but they have serious and responsible parents. Other people's parents will check and coach their children's learning at school, check and fill in the gaps for their children, and make suggestions on some works participating in the activities. For example, dictation of words, other students are naturally skilled and have a high correct rate because of their parents' constant urging. He is completely on his own, and his children are always lazy, so he can't review regularly. He only relies on limited study and practice at school, so naturally he can't compete with other students. Nowadays, the orientation of education is weakening the examination, and the future evaluation method will inevitably tend to be comprehensive quality and peacetime study. If, like the western developed countries, the usual classroom speeches and homework completion are directly included in the semester grades, then he will only be more affected.

I met a student with a wrong name in the fourth grade and found that his father could turn over his notebook. I gradually understood this truth from forcing myself to write. Parents are both the starting line and the ceiling for children.
