The following pictures are sketches drawn by some watercolor students I taught in the offline studio before or some works copied from cartoons.
Of course, it still takes some practice to reach this level.
Below, let's start with the most basic introduction and share the whole teaching process.
The first step is to have a complete set of watercolor tools. Watercolor pen, solid watercolor paint, or soft watercolor paint. Generally speaking, it is recommended to use solid watercolor pigments first. First, it is easy to master the color concentration, and second, solid watercolor pigments are easy to carry and store. Third, relatively speaking, it is cheaper. Therefore, it is suggested to introduce solid watercolor pigments. If you want to learn watercolor more professionally in the future. You can also add a set of soft watercolor pigments.
The following are some solid watercolor pigments on Taobao, from top to bottom, from cheap to expensive. Of course, the more expensive and professional, the better the coloring and color melting effect will be. You can decide according to your own economic level, because you just started to learn zero foundation, in fact, some time ago it was a process of practicing your hands. But watercolor painting requires high tools. Paintings painted with different pigments may have a slightly different sense of professionalism. Rubens and Fabregas were used at first, and the cost performance was slightly higher. I will be more professional in the future. When I study, I will change the watercolor pigments of the software one by one, which is a little more expensive, about 100 yuan a can. At first, solid watercolor pigments are enough and can be used for a long time. Then dear friends can go to Taobao to choose for themselves and read one of your comments. If I use it, I think Rubens and Fabregas are entry-level enough.
The following pictures are all from Taobao.
Then choose the brush you use. As for the choice of brush, it is best to choose a brush with squirrel tail hair. You can also draw a Chinese painting brush. Everyone can match a set according to their own economic level, and it doesn't need to be complete. Probably all sizes should be available. After painting for a long time, everyone will have their own skilled way of using a pen. At this time, you can adjust the size of the pen according to your personal preference. The brush with squirrel tail hair has the best water storage and good peak recovery. Secondly, the brush for painting Chinese painting, Yang Hao. Everyone can try.
The following is a picture of Taobao.
Brush, you can go to Taobao and choose it yourself. I use a miscellaneous brush.
If you are a beginner, you can choose Humboldt. China paper with thick lines and thin lines will have different texture sizes. If you want to draw something with texture, such as scenery, you can choose thick lines or thick lines, and if you want to draw more detailed people, you can choose thin lines.
Then, the basic tools are ready. At this time, you need a small cup to hold water. You also need a sponge, which has two functions. First, when pigments are used to harmonize colors, they are used to control water. One is to do some picture texture effects, such as wiping clouds in the sky or ripples on the water surface. Some lines of watercolor techniques can also be wiped with this sponge.
Finally, if you are good at sketching and modeling, you can start painting with watercolors without pencils. Then if your sketch modeling skills are weak, then the most basic modeling composition may need a water-soluble colored pencil drawing. Water-soluble colored lead, when used for composition and modeling, can be dissolved in your watercolor painting, which is basically integrated with your watercolor brush strokes. Pencil, suitable for some emphasized structures. You can also use a pencil to shape directly, that is, after painting, your whole watercolor painting will have some pencil marks.
Next, let's show two landscapes painted by a foreign British watercolor painter, who painted directly with watercolors.
Then, let's share the color test of solid watercolor in our next article. If you want to draw a good picture, you should know your tools first.
The harmony of lightness and saturation of watercolor depends on the amount of water. So the familiarity with the colors and pigments on your hands depends on the success rate of your paintings in the future.
Ok, that's all for today. See you next time.
Experience sharing How did I learn watercolor from scratch? Painting is a dream of mine since I was a child. I wanted to learn painting when I was in middle school, but in order to get into college, I had to seize all the time to study and finally gave up. After graduating from college, I became a North drifter. The weekend leisure time aroused my dream, and the seeds of painting began to sprout. I began to learn painting, and I was interrupted countless times, but it has continued intermittently until now. Although my painting is not particularly good now, I have made a lot of progress compared with my original self. I want to record my watercolor learning experience and encourage myself to move on.

I summed up some of my own experiences for your reference:
1, it's never too late to start! I didn't start painting until I graduated from college. I hesitated for a long time before I started to act. I'm afraid I'm too old to learn. I'm worried that there are so many people who can draw, and my paintings will be seen by people. What I am worried about is that after starting to take action, there is little progress gradually, and I am beginning to rejoice, because you never know that you can do better without doing it. I also began to regret, if I had this kind of consciousness when I was at school, and how much precious time I wasted on weekends and winter and summer vacations. Of course, it is undeniable that I was fine when I was young, so I don't have to regret it too much. But it also taught me that early is not the most important thing. The key is from now on. Many times, we are defeated by our own fears.
2, insist, insist, insist! There will be many problems in the process of painting, especially at the beginning, which makes people feel confused and lazy, and it will be difficult to persist. My solution is to go to the studio on weekends. The teacher in the studio can take me to get started, and I can ask them for advice if I have any questions. At the same time, there are a group of friends who love painting, urging and encouraging each other, making it easier for people to stick to it. Over time, people will gradually develop the habit of drawing and pick up a pen at home. Painting is a process that needs to be accumulated. Don't think about it overnight. Stick to it and you will make progress.
3. Be patient! When you get started, you will find that painting is actually a particularly boring thing, especially in the primary stage, and it is more like copying. In fact, this learning process is more manual, which requires painting one by one, and finally it will be a finished product. Whenever I am upset, I will listen to music or stand up and walk. But more often, I really enjoy this process. Painting makes people immerse themselves in their own world, and time flies. Another thing is to have patience to achieve my goal. Every time I see a master's painting, I always tell myself, be patient and walk slowly, and we will always get closer. Comparing less with others and more vertically with your own yesterday will make people feel more satisfied, but they will walk faster when they are on the road easily.
The following works are arranged in chronological order:
Watercolor self-study tutorial Watercolor self-study tutorial is as follows:
1. What method do you want to draw before you start painting? Except for some early paintings, they are all paintings created by themselves, copying their own photos. This can exercise your painting thinking, which is a step that many people easily ignore.
2. By copying other people's drawings, you have done a lot of meaningful thinking, such as lighting, layout, color control and many other necessary painting skills. Basically find it difficult, stick to it and be good at thinking, and the effect will be more remarkable.
3. The most common problem that many people encounter is the control of the ratio of water to pigment. Watercolor is a very spiritual thing, because you can't completely control the water when painting. But you can master the basic skills through practice. These can be studied slowly by yourself. Commonly used are humidification, wet plus dry, dry plus dry and so on. You can also use the properties of water to render, make colors and so on. You can learn by practicing and drawing slowly.
