Unsolved educational complex--an interview with chen changjin, chairman of qingdao hengxing group. It may exist for a long time ● Running a school needs the financial backing of the enterprise, and the talents of the school are the wealth of the enterprise. It is not easy to be a successful entrepreneur, nor is it easy to be a successful educator. If you run both enterprises and education, you can still get a "win-win", and the difficulty can be imagined. Chen Changjin, chairman of Qingdao Hengxing Group, made the enterprise the earliest private high-tech enterprise in Qingdao by virtue of the invention patent. It was he who got on the shuttle bus of private education earlier and founded Qingdao Hengxing Institute of Science and Technology, which was founded that year and enrolled 800 students that year, providing a successful example for private enterprises to set foot in education.
Q&A 1
Reporter: I first knew that the "star" originated from the taxi meter. It is said that at present, more than 80% taxi meters installed in Qingdao are produced by you. It seems that as long as there is an excellent flagship product, the enterprise can be very successful. Chen: Taxi meter is a patented product I invented in Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology 1986. It should be said that the "star" has developed step by step, and rice is the biggest contributor. In addition, we also seized a good opportunity, that is, since 1994, the taxi industry has developed rapidly all over the country. In this good situation, our annual sales volume is more than 6,000 units, and the sales volume is nearly 10 million yuan. Of course, the development of "Star" is also supported by other projects. At present, our products involve nearly 10 industries such as measurement, transportation, electric power and communication, and there are dozens of varieties. Enterprises have more than one national patent 10, and dozens of national gold and silver awards.
Question and answer 2
Reporter: It has been nearly eight years since you patented 1986 and the product sold well 1994. How did you spend this time? Chen: These years have been very difficult. When I made a taxi meter prototype at 1986, there were few taxis in most cities in China, and few cities with taxis did not use taxi meters. Because there is no market, the prototype was left at home for two years. 1988, Guojiazhuang, a village in Jimolan, wants to go to an industrial project. The village party secretary was very interested when he learned that I had such a product. He is interested in investing in cooperative production. At first, everything went well. That year, we got the production license and the order of 1000. 1992 I set up Qingdao Hengxing Electronics Company and opened one in Keji Street. 1993 The number of taxis in Qingdao has increased, and taxi meters have been installed. That year, I sold more than 2000 taxis. 1994 Jinan "yellow" is overwhelming, and more than 95% of the rice used is produced by us. This year, I bought out the original enterprise and registered Qingdao Hengxing Industrial Corporation, and the enterprise also entered a period of rapid development.
Q&A 3
Reporter: Since the enterprise is developing so smoothly, why did you suddenly think of starting a school? Chen: Now that I think about it carefully, it is both accidental and inevitable to start a school. From 65438 to 0998, I went to the United States for business investigation, hoping to expand foreign markets and do international trade for enterprises. Unexpectedly, I was deeply inspired by the situation of private education in the United States. I also think that entrepreneurship may go downhill soon, but as long as the school operates normally, it can exist for a long time and make greater contributions to society. Many famous private colleges abroad have a long history, so the idea of running a school came into being. School has an indissoluble complex for me. 1980 I graduated from technical secondary school and was assigned to Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology. I have been engaged in teaching and scientific research for many years. Even in the process of starting a business, I am still an employee of the Institute of Chemical Technology. It was not until 1998 that I established Hengxing Group that I transferred from the academy and put the files in the city talent exchange center.
Q&A 4
Reporter: There seems to be a great distance between starting a business and running an education. How do you handle the relationship between the two? Chen: On the surface, there is really little relationship between them. In fact, they can complement each other. First of all, running a school needs a lot of money. At the beginning, it is necessary to lose money, and only with the backing of enterprises can it be guaranteed. Secondly, the faculty of the school is a huge asset. In the past, when I was only engaged in enterprises, I hired two researchers to engage in scientific research, so I felt that the financial pressure was great. At present, there are more than 60 talents with the title of associate professor or above in the school, all of whom can be scientific researchers in enterprises. Moreover, their research topics can be closely integrated with enterprises, and scientific research results can be transformed in enterprises in time, which can benefit enterprises, which in turn can feed back schools and improve school conditions. In addition, people who engage in enterprises know better what kind of students need to be trained. At the same time, enterprises can provide sufficient internship and practice opportunities for students at school, and the trained students can also work in enterprises. The advantages of private enterprises in running education are self-evident.
