How to make preschool children literate?
Is it appropriate for children to read early?

Every responsible modern parent must have an independent parenting experience. This article is mainly about the experience of children's literacy education, and it is also based on sharing. Parents and friends communicate with each other, gain different experiences, learn from each other's strengths, and promote the healthy and happy growth of children!

Many parenting books and online articles say that the baby's sensitive period to words will not begin until he is 6 years old. Prior to this, it is reasonable that family education that allows children to read is not conducive to their free growth.

My understanding is that this statement is absolutely correct in theory, but only for extreme education. I am convinced by scientific theoretical data, but every parent understands that parenting cannot be scripted. Even if you are willing to copy, the children will not cooperate with you one by one.

Mary Clay, a New Zealand scientist, also said that a child's reading and writing ability is naturally developed. If you give him a rich writing environment, he will naturally learn to write.

Because for children, he doesn't take writing as a formal and serious thing like us adults. If he comes into contact with writing naturally, it is a very common thing in his living environment. He will learn to read as naturally as learning to recognize apples and oranges, riding a bike and tying his shoelaces.

Therefore, whether to educate children to read too early and how to teach them to read have become key issues.

In fact, there are no specific guiding methods for children's educational books or popular educational concepts. Regarding the literacy education of Xuanniu in my family, I read all kinds of parenting books, according to my own living habits and understanding.

As a mother, I have no outstanding skills and specialties to pass on to her. I only like reading books, poetry and songs, and I am good at dancing and writing. I can only carry forward my hobbies and infiltrate her in the days when I get along with my children day and night.

Counting, we chicks can read from three months in college, and by the age of four, men who don't repeat can read more than 2300 words, and we can read short stories by ourselves.

Among the gifted babies, Xuan Niu is not outstanding. She has many bad habits and shortcomings. The point is that she is just an ordinary child. Dad and I only hope that she will get good grades naturally, and we don't specifically ask her what to do. Everything is just accidental and natural.

Today's children have good growth conditions and strong ability to accept new things. Xuanbao's learning about literacy has gradually grown up under various convenient and superior conditions.

After reading Montaigne's neat early education series and children's psychological education, I know that if she can read alone, she will only memorize the shape and pronunciation of words mechanically, but have no idea about the usage and meaning of words in different sentences. Doing so will indeed encourage the growth of seedlings, which will do more harm than good to children, and will have no effect except satisfying the vanity of parents.

Therefore, regarding Xuanbao's literacy education, I arranged it according to my own preferences. Although our literacy education started long ago, we never used the word "indoctrination" once. The only way out for our family is to play.

I am a working mother, and I have to work regularly every day. I have been going out early and returning late since Xuanbao was six months old. We spend no more than four hours alone every day. These four hours are basically used for playing in our home, but we are not just playing. The most common sentence between us is "Come on, let's travel.

What I do for her is to create a rich writing environment so that she can often and naturally get in touch with writing. In the process of fun and interaction, she took the initiative to learn writing. Learning in our family is playing, and playing is learning, mainly because she has never felt it. Her mother gave her the behavior of asking her to study. She didn't know that learning seemed to happen quietly.

In this atmosphere, she naturally learned to read, and she knew one word after another in a happy and interactive way. She didn't know it was literacy at all, only that it was a game. At this time, those words are no longer isolated, mechanical and meaningless shapes for children, but a part of her life and information that she can understand and feel.

She learned to read naturally, so she can remember it better. As time goes by, she can read more and more. I can't underestimate her when I discover her accomplishment.

Xuanniu spoke earlier and began to speak the whole sentence at the age of one. By the time she started walking at the age of one year and three months, she had known more than 200 words. She can't be familiar with the things posted at home, such as TV, door and refrigerator, and know what it means. When she is over two years old, she can read all the 400-word literacy cards and compose music.

I said so much nonsense and wrote so much nonsense just to make it clear to my parents and friends that there is nothing wrong with correct education and early literacy, and it does not violate the science of human development.

So what games did we play and what natural methods did we use to help her learn to read? Let's illustrate them one by one.

Xuan Niu is now in the middle class of kindergarten, so I will start from the present situation and talk from the back to the front. In kindergarten life, at school during the day, they will read nursery rhymes with their teachers and know the words in nursery rhymes. After school, the teacher also began to give them homework. Ask parents to help their children circle the words they have learned in the evening. When I come home from work, I usually don't let her do the tasks assigned by the teacher, but play games first.

The first literacy game in our family: classroom imitation

I found that Xuan Niu likes to imitate others, so I used her to do a classroom imitation. ) After dinner, we started our class, with mom and dad as students and girls as teachers.

Move a small bench and sit in front of the small blackboard. I will copy the lesson assigned by the teacher on the blackboard in advance and let her teach us to read word by word with a stick. Because she can read early, these children's songs are easy for her to read. She teaches us effortlessly. She likes being a teacher.

Teaching is very serious, that is, the teacher looks similar at school during the day, even the tone of speech and the words she reads are true, and I will guide her. For example, after reading children's songs, I would advise the teacher to know those words after reading them.

At this time, she will recall the words taught by the teacher during the day, and then teach us to read them, which are basically words arranged by the teacher to consolidate the circle.

During the study, my father and I should pretend that we really don't know each other, listen carefully and study hard. She will also call her father or mother to ask questions, paste the answers with little red flowers, and let her enjoy the vivid classroom scene imitation. She had a good time.

In fact, my purpose is to let her consolidate the nursery rhymes she learned during the day, learn the words again, exercise her memory, and observe her situation at school by the way, because I usually ask her how she is at school today and what happened, and she will say nothing, nothing.

However, in her imitation, I can basically take a glance at my study during the day and get a general understanding. The child doesn't pretend, and the way she imitates is basically the actual situation.

As for the kindergarten teacher's request to circle the words we have learned, we usually finish it after getting up the next morning. First, we can use this as an excuse to urge her to get up. Second, morning is the best time to remember, and we have reviewed the contents of our study.

Plus, she learned it once in school during the day, played games once, circled words once in the morning, and consolidated each nursery rhyme three times, so she could recite it. This method, mathematics and English are all common to us.

The second literacy game in our family: associative word formation and cumulative literacy

Xuanniu is impatient and independent, and can't stay in a quiet environment. For example, take the bus, wait for meals, wait in line, etc. , and wait patiently for no more than five minutes.

At first, I wanted to find something to distract her while waiting. I asked her to look for the words she knew on the stop sign and the names of the shops on the road. Later, I found that she was very interested, so I created a set of associative word-building games and waiting for literacy accumulation games.

For example, driving out to play is boring. I used to show her cartoons. In order to watch less cartoons, we began to play word combinations. Before we start, I will say, come on, let's play a game. As soon as she listens to the game, she becomes interested.

I'll ask her to look for what she casually saw through the window. She will say I saw a big tree, and I will guide her. What is the word "big tree"? A: Yamato Tree, Q: What words can be formed? A: Size, my Lord ... usually three.

Say more than three words and I will praise her. Wow, you are great. Mom can only form two words, and you can form three words. She'll be happy, so go ahead. How about we try to exceed three this time? She will be challenging, too. Question: What words can a tree form? Trees, leaves, branches ... This word is easy to combine, and it can be said that there are many words, which are particularly fulfilling. I will help her count when she says it, and when she can't remember it, she will probe out of the window to see what else is in the tree.

When you see something, break it into words, and then make up the words. This kind of game time passes quickly, as if she would arrive at her destination by car at once, and she would not be bored. In fact, what I exercise is her observation, analysis, divergent thinking and mastery of vocabulary.

This game is especially fun, because there are so many things that can be seen at a glance that everything can be broken into different words and even an ancient poem can be read. One thing is that children don't know polyphonic words and homophones. You can learn more words by playing with polyphonic words. For example, when she sees a railing, she will combine the words railing, orchid and blue sky. I will tell her that orchids are different from railings, and the blue of blue sky is different from railings.

I will write down railings, orchids and blue sky with post-it notes, so that she can see the difference and explain it again. Of course, sometimes she doesn't understand, and she doesn't quite understand. After getting off the bus, we will find a railing and stick a post-it note with the words railing on it. When we go back, we will look for our post on the railing in the same position, and then we will get it back and tell her not to throw it around.

If you can find an orchid, put it in. If you can't see or paste it, let her put it in the designated position of the bag. This process is usually very cooperative. If you don't cooperate occasionally, you won't insist. After a long time, there will be more and more words in the group, and she will know how to distinguish homophones. If she is bored by car, she will take the initiative to ask to play.

We can play this game while waiting in line for dinner, but if we play too much that day, she will lose interest, so we usually don't repeat the same game that day. When ordering and waiting for a meal, you will accumulate literacy, take restaurant menus, water labels, advertisements, etc. And play it where we can see the text.

For example, when ordering food, she will be happy to ask her to order some words she knows, but generally she is careless. After ordering the name she knows, I will help her screen out what we want to eat and tell her mother which one I want to eat. She can't read. She listened to me and wanted to eat, but she didn't know the words. She will pay great attention to the name of the dish, and she will remember it after reading it a few times.

While waiting for dinner, let her find out the words she knows above 10 in our restaurant, or form another word with the found words. These are all easy, and she can find them at once. If she waits a long time, she can find five words she doesn't know. Mom helped to copy it in the pad, and the time for waiting for dinner usually passed quickly. This method can also be used to recognize numbers, do addition and subtraction and recognize letters and English words. Take turns, don't repeat, and every time you play, it's fresh.

The third literacy game in our family: poetry bowling

The invention of this game is also an accident. I once took Xuanniu bowling. When she got home, she imitated it with her big building blocks and balls, and she insisted on pulling her mother to play with her.

I processed it for her, put post-it notes on her sorted building blocks, copied down the ancient poems that the teacher taught at school and needed to go home to consolidate, and everyone typed them again, such as the Yuefu poem "Jiangnan" learned some time ago, and wrote "Lotus leaf He Tian Tian" on the post-it notes respectively. Fish hits the lotus leaf, fish hits the lotus leaf east, fish hits the lotus leaf west, fish hits the lotus leaf south and fish hits the lotus leaf north. "Now stick it on each building block, and then hit it with the ball in turn. Mom said, I want to hit him and hit the lotus leaf. She would say, I want to fish and play among the lotus leaves, so that we can see who pours more. After all, let her rearrange according to ancient poems.

She is very happy and busy. She can recite the ancient poems several times. When not playing, she will pile up the building blocks according to ancient poems. My mother said that I tore off the post-it notes of Lotus Leaves. She said that I tore off the post-it notes between the lotus leaves in the fish play, and then asked her to help me arrange the post-it notes according to the ancient poems, and then threw them into the trash can. Repeated ancient poems are naturally consolidated.

She won't be disgusted, and she is very proud. This game can also be used to recognize numbers, literacy, English letters and so on. Because Xuanniu can read, I only use it to teach ancient poems and strengthen my memory.

Our family's literacy game 4: crossword puzzles before bed

The idiom crossword puzzle was originally downloaded to my mobile phone before going to bed to kill time. When I was playing, Xuanniu found out and insisted on joining in. After the trial, she liked it very much, so she changed the process of playing.

Every day before going to bed, we play 10 minutes of idiom crossword puzzles together. Mom and Xuan Niu work together. Mom finds idioms and Xuan Niu fills in words. For example, the game is "Tiger". According to a bunch of words in the game, my mother found that the answer should be "draw a tiger according to a cat". Xuanniu picked out photos, cats and paintings with lights from a pile of words.

She will seriously look for one by one, and will teach her when she meets a mother she doesn't know. Let her repeat it when it is correct. High-five indicates success and encourages her to win another idiom. That's great. After all the idioms are filled in, the game will jump out to congratulate you.

You need to learn four idioms at the same time. Clicking on each idiom will give an explanation and source. Xuanniu likes the feeling of being congratulated. I will also ask her to read and explain the idioms that need to be learned again while the iron is hot. Although she doesn't know what most idioms mean, she likes the process of playing and the sense of accomplishment after success.

It takes about fifteen minutes to finish a game, just like she is tired and wants to sleep. At present, we have passed 328 levels of this game and learned 832 idioms. Although she doesn't know what 90% idioms mean or what they are for, as time goes by, when she sees them, she can recognize most of them. When no one teaches her now, she can occasionally jump out of a few idioms.

For example, going to the park to play, at the age of 4, she will say that it is sunny and the weather is good today; I was shocked and worried when she climbed to the window. She would say, mom, you don't have to make a fuss. She helped grandma with a broom, and grandma praised her. She said you're welcome. This is a piece of cake.

The purpose of this game, I just want her to pass the bedtime at first, make her tired of playing, hurry to sleep, learn more words by finding out the words, consolidate the words she has learned, and let her learn a few idioms unintentionally.

The whole process happens naturally. Without coercion or temptation. I just insist on playing a game every day. Of course, this game also needs parents. Parents should also learn to have a vocabulary and cooperate with adults to go through customs. When she doesn't play in a bad mood, we don't play. When she is happy, we try not to disturb her. Recommended game: Vertical and Horizontal idioms solitaire. The learning method of this game is actually the method of learning English. To learn English, you need to master vocabulary. The game recommended by the teacher is just a crossword puzzle.

Our family's literacy game 5: stopwatch reading training and ten-minute alarm clock reading.

I am a person who likes reading paper books very much. Reading every day is the only good habit to keep. When he sees me reading, Xuanniu will come over and ask, What are you doing? When I say I'm reading, she will join in.

I usually don't let her watch it with me right away. Let me start by saying that there are too many words in this book for you to finish reading. Why don't you read the title? If you all know, let's read it together. When reading together, we will point and read word by word, but usually she will run away within five minutes, or she will not read word by word.

So we set up a stopwatch to read, the purpose is to cultivate her reading habits, no matter how long she can read.

When she is reading, I will set a stopwatch with my mobile phone and say, let's play a game. Let's keep watching and see who is the most serious for the longest time, shall we? She is very interested when she is in a good mood. Three minutes for the first time and five minutes for the second time. Every time she insists on finishing, she posts her grades on the bedside. Next time she reads a book, encourage her to surpass last time. After accumulating several times, reading is basically fixed at 10 to 15 minutes.

I no longer encourage her to improve the time, change the way and maintain the quality. When reading, set the alarm clock 10 minutes. When we finish reading three pages in ten minutes, I will say that I expect to finish the task. Xuanniu is very competitive and usually has the courage to challenge. After five minutes, I'll say there are five minutes left and I need to refuel. If we finish reading three pages, I will set an alarm clock. She will also report to her father, grandmother and grandfather, and she will feel more fulfilled. She feels that reading is a super glorious thing and she is particularly proud.

For a long time, she didn't have to worry about it at all, and she didn't have to pinch the alarm clock. She will continue to observe for a long time. Sometimes when the alarm clock rings, she will say, so soon, have you set the alarm clock wrong?

At first, we read 365 stories. We can't finish reading a story in 65,438+00 minutes. Ten minutes later, we ran to do something else. She didn't know what she had just read, and later she changed it to Wilde's fairy tale. The story of Green's simplified call is very short, and she is more interested. Although there are many new words, she can even guess.

Now when I am reading, she can continue reading for a while. This game is just to cultivate her habits. At first, I thought she couldn't understand it, just reading words indiscriminately. In fact, children's acceptance ability is much stronger than that of adults. Even if they don't understand the truth, they can understand the literal meaning.

Once she asked me, "Mom, do you know what kissing means?" I said I don't know. She said that kissing is love. I asked her why. She said that kissing me every day means loving me, doesn't she? I was right. She said that the prince kissed the princess and the princess woke up because the prince loved the princess! At that time, I thought it was her grandmother who told her. I didn't know until I asked her that no one told her that she was four years old. She knew it herself.

The more stories you read and listen to, the more children will read and love to read, and the more they read, the more they love to read. Her reading ability and cognitive ability promote each other and grow rapidly together.

Let's discuss how babies should be raised.

The poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer. This is the Matthew effect. Reading also has Matthew effect. It is the famous cognitive scientist Yasino Vicky who said that children who liked reading when they were young will like reading more and have better reading ability in the future.

Conversely, if the baby has not learned to read well in three or four years after school age, it may cause long-term dyslexia and learning problems in the future. Therefore, the Matthew effect of reading is that the more children read, the more they love reading and the more they will read. However, if they miss the period of cultivating their reading ability and hobbies, they may become less and less fond of reading and less and less unable to read.

Yanu once said that we should pay attention to children's early reading ability. If children have reading difficulties from the beginning, it will further cause learning difficulties. In the long run, their knowledge and ability will gradually decline, and they will fall behind in their studies, eventually forming a vicious circle.

People's reading ability and cognitive ability complement each other. The more children read, the stronger her understanding and thinking ability. The stronger her cognitive ability, the more she likes reading and the faster she reads. Reading ability and learning environment complement each other.

The greater the reading ability, the more difficult books you should read. When she walked in the street, the signs and instructions she saw were no longer gobbledygook. After buying electrical appliances, she can help read the instructions. Whether she can read it or not, she knows where to insert it. She can play tanks with her father.

One of the games we like to play when walking in the street is to read the name of the store and guess what she does. General stores are easy to guess. There must be clothes in it, or XX casserole porridge or something, and it must be for food. There is a shop that says "Xia Bing Shoemaker". I asked her what she did, and she said very neatly that she must do seafood.

These are the conveniences brought to her by playing games, to train her to read early and read early. She can process this information quickly, which further stimulates the development of her brain and makes her reading ability stronger, so this is a positive cycle of reading.

Some of the above remarks are my own summary and test, and the small methods and records of children's knowledge reserve in daily life. Xuanniu is still young At present, only kindergartens are still in the growth stage, and everything is uncertain in the future. It can't be said that she has made great achievements and grown rapidly.

Therefore, our method is uncertain whether it is correct or reasonable. Only my own opinion is my own way of raising children, and I made some attempts in the process of accompanying her to grow up. It may not be suitable for all children, but writing it for your reference and discussing with each other whether it is necessary may be helpful or inspiring for parents to educate their children!
