Compared with annual vegetation, the soil loss under perennial grassland vegetation coverage is obviously reduced; For grassland vegetation types at the same stage, with the increase of vegetation coverage, the stable infiltration rate of soil and soil loss also decrease. The surface biological crust covered by perennial vegetation reduces the stable infiltration rate of soil. However, most of the vegetation on the Loess Plateau in the upper reaches of the Yellow River has been destroyed, resulting in a lot of soil erosion. In this way, the Yellow River will certainly flood many times.

From this point of view, in order to solve the flood of the Yellow River, we must protect the vegetation. The basic method of protecting vegetation is to plant more trees. Now, China has designated March 12 every year as Arbor Day, which is a positive performance.
