Longan originated in southern China and distributed in Fujian, Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and other provinces (regions).
Longan growth environment
Temperature: Longan grows in the south subtropical region, likes warm and humid climate, can endure short-term frost, and will not freeze to death in a short time at the low temperature of 0-4℃. The annual average temperature in Putian, Fujian is 20-22℃, and that in Sichuan is about 65438 08℃. Short-term low temperature in winter is beneficial to the differentiation and formation of longan flower buds.
Moisture: the average annual precipitation in longan producing areas is 1200 ~ 1600 mm. ..
Lighting: Longan is a positive tree species, which needs sufficient sunshine.
Soil: Longan has strong adaptability to soil. In the main producing area of Putian, Fujian, mainly red sandy soil and clay can grow. As long as the topsoil is deep and the drainage is good, almost all kinds of soil can adapt. Sandy loam is the best, followed by sandy red soil and clay. The pH value of soil is 5.4 to 6.5, which is most suitable for growth, while alkaline soil is not suitable for planting.
Litchi is mainly distributed in the range of north latitude 18 to 29 degrees, with the most cultivated in Guangdong, followed by Fujian and Guangxi, and a few cultivated in Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, Zhejiang, Guizhou and other provinces.
Litchi trees like high temperature and humidity and sunshine. Its heredity requires a relatively low temperature during flower bud differentiation, but it will suffer from freezing damage when the lowest temperature is between MINUS 2 and MINUS 4℃. It is sunny and warm in flowering period, and no dry heat is the most favorable. Too low humidity, continuous rain, dry and hot weather or strong north wind are not conducive to flowering and pollination. Unfavorable disaster weather in the flower and fruit period will lead to falling flowers and fruits, and even loss of harvest.
