The role of pigment sponge
Using a sponge to wipe the pigment on the drawing paper can create a mottled effect, especially when thicker pigments are used, this effect will be stronger. The steps of sponge painting include using different dilutions of pigments and different kinds of sponges to draw a work or part of a work with different color levels.
Try several different types of sponges, such as natural or artificial, delicate or rough. Sponge can absorb a lot of pigments, draw pictures with high water content, or touch the pictures with little pressure to create fine effects.
