Buddhism originated in ancient India. Why didn't Buddhism prevail in ancient India?
As we all know, Buddhism originated in ancient India, but it did not prevail in India. In the journey to the west, learning from the scriptures refers to ancient India. However, now no one in India believes in Buddhism, but in Hinduism. Both of these religions originated in India, but they are two opposing religions.

Buddhism originated around the 6th century. The cause of Buddhism is the reflection on Brahmanism. Buddhism put forward some ideas about Hinduism, but in fact it is also against Brahmanism and the resulting Hinduism.

People can see that Buddhism has reflected and corrected some disadvantages of Brahmanism, but Brahmanism has an unshakable position in the hearts of Indians and is deeply rooted in their hearts. Buddhism's attempt to challenge authority is undoubtedly unsuccessful! Even when Buddhism was most developed in India, only one fifth of Indians believed in Buddhism. The real reason is that Buddhism is contrary to the living habits and national customs and beliefs of Indians, which is also the real reason why it cannot be accepted by most Indians.

The struggle between Hinduism and Buddhism has never stopped, but most have the upper hand. By the19th century, only 2% people in India believed in Buddhism. Although from India, it can be seen that Indians don't like it. On the contrary, Buddhism spread to China and parts of Southeast Asia, but it was deeply loved by everyone. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, Buddhism entered China, and after thousands of years of development, it has become an inseparable part of China culture. Buddhism in China transformed Indian Buddhism and was introduced to other countries. Although India is the birthplace of Buddhism, it is China that carries it forward.
