China is a gold medal country, not a sports country. Sports in China are the constitution of the Olympic Games and the National Games. The State Sports General Administration spends a lot of manpower and material resources to guarantee the gold medal (Liu Xiang is an example, table tennis, badminton and diving are all examples). Sports in China is still far from national sports.
The process of selecting athletes in China is like this. Coaches of local sports teams go to local schools, and select excellent athletes to enter the youth team through amateur teams, followed by professional teams, provincial second teams, provincial first teams and national training teams. One in a million gold medalists needs not only extraordinary talent, but also hard work, and luck is even more essential, because once an injury occurs, it means the end of an athlete's career. The above is a career choice based on sports, so the choice is not. If it's just a hobby and only a spare time, it really needs a certain economic foundation.
My humble opinion is for reference only.
