Zhejiang Media College is a university approved by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and the State Administration of Radio and Television, and it is a high-level communication university with distinctive industry characteristics. Zhejiang Radio and Television School was founded in 1978, Zhejiang Radio and Television College was founded in 1984, Zhejiang Radio and Television College was merged from two schools in 2000 and upgraded to Zhejiang Media College in 2004. It has been running for more than 40 years.

There are two campuses, Qiantang in Hangzhou and Wuzhen in Tongxiang, covering an area of 1.305 mu with a total construction area of 642,000 square meters. There are 16 secondary colleges (departments and centers) with more than 4500 students and about 1400 staff. Won the title of National Civilized Unit, National party member Education and Training Demonstration Base, National Language Promotion Base, National Graduate Employment Typical Experience College and National Language Standardization Demonstration School.

Nine majors, such as radio and television, digital media technology, radio and television director, film and television photography and production, editing and publishing, cultural industry management, broadcasting and hosting, animation and photography, are national first-class professional construction points, while nine majors, such as network and new media, radio and television engineering, drama and film literature, drama and film art design, music performance, communication, network engineering, recording arts and digital media art, are provincial first-class professional construction points.
