Thoughts on isolated wild dogs after reading.
Kushikino in Kagoshima Prefecture is a small town famous for its tuna fishing port.

From this port to the east, you can reach an island called Zan Island by boat for two hours.

There are four villages on our island, but they add up. Less than twenty thousand people.

With such a small population on the island, why are there four villages? People who have never been to this island will not understand.

Zan Island is an island composed of several uplifted mountains. How crowded the mountains near the coast are, and the overlapping mountains are steep.

On the sunny side of the ridge, a little flat on the coast, there are sporadic villages.

It takes an hour or two to get to the neighboring village, cross the ridge and cross two or three hills. So it's inconvenient to go to the neighboring village. In this way, this small island with a relatively small population has four villages.

On the island, it is not only inconvenient to go to the neighboring village, but also inconvenient to go to the opposite city of Kushino by boat.

The sea around here is often very noisy. Especially from winter to spring, it is very violent. In addition, the port of the island is very small and has not been well trimmed, so when the waves are churning, ships going to the island rarely sail. Especially when there is a typhoon, or in winter, the ship sometimes stays for five days or ten days.

Last time we went to Oshima, it took two weeks for our ship to enter the island, so all the children on the island stood noisily at the seaside to welcome the arrival of the ship.

The village chief also stood on the coast. When the crew handed him the newspaper for two weeks in one breath, he said with a wry smile:

"Oh, the newspaper that has been here for so many days at once can hardly be called news!"

On this island, there is a village called "Hand Beating".

"Hand-beating" is the center of Xiazeng Village, and the village office is also here.

By the early Taisho era (around 19 12), it had always been a coral harbor, and boats picking corals came in and out, which was very prosperous. But now, corals can't be harvested offshore and become isolated ports.

During World War II, many soldiers were stationed in Handa village. The soldiers kept nearly fifty German shepherds as military dogs. When Japan was defeated in the war, the soldiers abandoned the military dogs and retreated.

These military dogs sometimes eat better than soldiers when they live in military camps. Soldiers always take care of them, clean their bodies and brush their teeth carefully; If they feel a little sick, give them medicine at once. Soldiers will also play with them when they are bored, as long as they receive daily routine training. Sometimes, soldiers take them for a walk in the village.

German shepherd dog stood proudly and walked on the village road in a uniform way.

No one in the village has ever seen such a big German shepherd. They are so strong and smart that the beauty of their faces and bodies can be said to be "dogs among dogs".

"It's a military dog, great!"

The children admire them from the bottom of their hearts and follow them in succession.

The adults also stood and watched them go away.

When the dog was praised, the soldiers marched proudly as if they were praised.

German shepherd dogs also seem to understand people's feelings. When they walk around the village, they always pretend to be uniform without squinting.

On this island, military dogs live the life of king China.

But unexpectedly, the soldiers abandoned the German shepherd and retreated. Now, nobody will take care of them.

There was silence in the barracks without soldiers. However, dogs that always stay in the kennel except for training time are free because the soldiers leave.

At first, they seemed to think: Probably can't just run around! So they first tried to get in and out of the kennel several times, and then they stayed away from the kennel and went to the field opposite the barracks-no one came to chase them or call them. They can go wherever they want.

German shepherd, born to be strictly fed by soldiers, doesn't know what it's like to be abandoned by human beings.

But it is happy to be able to jump at will.

In summer, they run and jump in the rice fields under the scorching sun, chasing ditch rats and digging mole holes.

Dogs used to like to play this game, but German shepherd dogs, as military dogs, kept their heads in training all day and never played. Now, no matter which German shepherd dog is, he is keen to play his own game. They played so much that they forgot their hunger.

But when the sun goes down and night falls, they feel that their stomachs are already hungry.

I used to go back to the army when I was hungry. This situation has been going on for several years. And when it's time to eat, there's never a time when soldiers don't give food.

Now, all the dogs have returned to the dog house in the barracks. However, they found that the windows of the barracks were lit yesterday, but now it is dark. The barracks are empty, and no one brings food anymore. Whoosh, whoosh, they are sniffing around.

No one came.

Woof woof woof! Fifty dogs barked loudly, as if to shout, soldiers, come on!

The noise was so loud that everyone in the village below where the barracks were located ran out in surprise.

However, no one came to them with food. It is strange that such a thing has never happened.

Why did it suddenly become like this? German shepherd dogs don't understand.
