Geographical location:
Liuzhou is located in the northeast of central Guangxi, east longitude10850'-10944', north latitude 23 54'-24 50'. Liujiang River is located in the middle reaches of Liujiang River and flows from the north through the city to the southeast. The urban area is surrounded by mountains and waters, and it is pot-shaped.
Terrain:
Liuzhou is flat and slightly undulating, with an altitude of 85- 105 meters. Surrounded by mountains in the east, west and north, it has typical karst landform characteristics. Due to the Liujiang River flowing through the city and the influence of climate, lithology and structure, a natural basin with overlapping river terraces and karst landforms is formed, and its geomorphic units can be divided into meandering blocks in the city, Gu Feng karst plain of Liu Bei and Liu Liu.
River system:
There are 17 rivers flowing through Liuzhou, and there are 1 rivers with a basin area of more than 50 square kilometers, namely Liujiang (including the main stream Rongjiang and the main tributary Longjiang). There are 100- 1000 square kilometers of rivers, namely Da Qiao River, Shapu River, Wa Ni River (also known as Dadu River), Dongquan River (also known as Damao River), Fengshan River, Liushan River (also known as Jifeng River) and Zhonghui River (also known as Yangliu River). There are 6 rivers with a basin area of 50- 100 square kilometers, namely Qinqin River, Ewan, Muddy Water River, Gema River (also known as Dabao River), Mahuang River and Xinxu River. The main river in this city is Liujiang. Except the Wani River flows into Hongshui River, the rest are small tributaries of Liujiang River system. Each tributary flows into Liuzhou from both sides of Liujiang River, which constitutes the water system of Liuzhou City.
Liujiang:
Liujiang River is a first-class tributary of Xijiang River system, with a total length of 773 kilometers (from Heyuan to Sanjiangkou), with a drainage area of 58,397.5 square kilometers and an average river gradient of 65,438 0.4 ‰. From Heyuan to Liuzhou Hydrological Station, the river is 588 kilometers long and the catchment area is 454 13 square kilometers. The basin is fan-shaped to facilitate flood collection.
Climate:
Liuzhou is located in the subtropical zone, with four distinct seasons, mild climate and abundant rainfall. The average sunshine hours 1634.9 hours, the average temperature is 20.5℃, the frost-free period is 3 14 days, and the average annual precipitation is nearly 1450 mm. This climatic condition is very beneficial to the growth of crops and the reproduction of livestock, poultry and fish, and it can also be used to develop agricultural and sideline production out of season.
Historical evolution:
Liuzhou is the birthplace of ancient human "Liujiang people" in southern China. Ancient human cultural sites include Bailiandong site (late Paleolithic-early and middle Neolithic, about 3-7 thousand years ago), Liyuzui site in Dalongtan (a prosperous city in the early Neolithic, about 7 thousand years ago), Manwangcheng site (about 4 thousand years ago during the patriarchal commune) and platforms on both sides of Liujiang River, Lanjiacun platform and Jiutoushan platform.
In the first year of Tang Tianbao (AD 742), it was renamed Longcheng County.
In the first year of Gan Yuan (AD 758), Longcheng County was renamed Liuzhou.
Liuzhou is a city inhabited by Han, Zhuang and Yao nationalities, and it is rich in local culture and national culture.
