How to make cats learn to use cat litter?
Kittens naturally like to excrete in dust or sand.

If you guide them to defecate in a box with cat litter, they will be happy to do so.

If you train your kitten from the moment you bring it home, it will get used to using cat litter immediately.

The specific method is as follows:

Choose a suitable dustbin.

If you are a kitten or an old cat, you'd better choose a low-bar litter box, but for kittens, you'd better buy a bigger litter box, because kittens grow fast and may not be big enough to be uncomfortable in the future, so they don't want to enter this litter box.

Buy the right cat litter

There are many kinds of cat litter on the market, which are generally suitable for young cats or adult cats (8 months and above). Try to choose dust-free cat litter to avoid dust irritating the cat's lungs.

3. Know when the cat goes to the toilet

Generally speaking, cats need to go to the toilet after rest, running or eating. Knowing the cat's schedule can help you determine its toilet time. When you think it's about to release itself, just put it in the litter box instead of on the sofa.

4. Put the kitten in a box full of cat litter.

When you just take the kitten home, you can immediately put it in the box and let it get used to the smell and touch of the litter box. Even if it is inconvenient to be inside at first, let it stay inside for a few minutes.

Keep it in the box when you feel it is going to excrete. In addition, if it squats somewhere else, put it in the trash can immediately.

Some kittens can immediately understand the purpose of the litter box without any extra training. Other kittens have to let it go at least ten times a day to understand.

You should try to avoid letting kittens see the digging process, because cats usually bury their excrement, so they may be frightened. So don't let it dig in the cat litter with its claws until it gets used to it.

5. Clean the cat litter every day.

Kittens also like to be clean and don't like to excrete in a dirty environment. If the cat litter is not changed, it will find a cleaner place to excrete, such as a blanket.

When cleaning the litter box, shovel the dirty things into a small bag first, and gradually change it into a bigger bag as the kitten grows up. All you have to do is shovel up the soil and put it in the bag. After that, you should seal the bag and throw it away.

You can leave a little shit in the bedpan a few weeks ago (change it frequently). This helps the kitten understand the purpose of the box.

6. praise it, not punish it.

If the kitten is used to cat litter and begins to be convenient in it, then you should praise it by caressing and comforting it. Don't punish it in the box, or it may associate the litter box with punishment.
