Lugou Bridge was built in the 29th year of Jin Dading (1 189) and completed in the 3rd year of Ming Chang (1 192). The bridge is 266.5 meters long, with 50 1 stone lions on the railing and 6562 stone lions under the bridge. It has a history of over 800 years.
More than 700 years ago, "Lugou Xiaoyue" was one of the eight famous scenic spots in Yanjing. On the bridge, there is the pavilion of "Lugou Xiaoyue" inscribed by Qing Qianlong.
By 1985, Lugou Bridge is still an important traffic passage in the southwest of Beijing, shouldering heavy transportation tasks. After 1985, two new bridges were built next to it, and the old ones stopped using.
1On July 7, 937, the Japanese invaders launched an attack here, namely the Lugouqiao Incident.
According to the records in 1980s (probably 1988), on a sunny day, a lightning bolt split a bridge column in the middle of the north side of the bridge. The picture above shows the restored stone lion.
