Also talk about faith
? In the morning, on the way home with my son from early education, the car radio was just playing the inspirational film Guanhong Guan Ren, which told the story of Liu Changchun, the first Olympic athlete of the Chinese nation, who was not afraid of power and was not moved by bribery, and firmly believed to represent the Chinese nation in the Olympic Games and became the first Olympic athlete. Listening, my wife suddenly asked me: You say, compared with people now, why did those people in the past have so much faith? What sustains them to stick to their beliefs?

? Yes, why? Why do many of us today only know how to make money, seek profits and turn our noses up at faith? I often think about the same problem.

? Hong's inspirational stories are many: Xuanzang, a wizard thousands of years ago, braved difficulties and obstacles and went to Tianzhu alone to get the true scriptures; Sir Run Run Shaw, the founder of TVB in Hong Kong, insisted on public welfare all his life and donated countless teaching buildings, libraries and laboratories in the Mainland. Mandela, who struggled for the liberation of blacks and the elimination of racial discrimination all his life and eventually became the first black president of South Africa, brought human civilization to a new height. And Xie Jinyuan and his 800 warriors resisted foreign enemies, stuck to the four rows of warehouses, and so on.

? Why do these people, especially China people, or rather China people around us, have such strong beliefs that they can even pay the price with their lives?

? After my wife's question, I thought and answered it like this: You see, during the two hundred years from the 19th century to the 20th century, what happened to China: from the Opium War, when it was forced to open its doors, to the burning of Yuanmingyuan in Eight-Nation Alliance; From the defeat of China in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 to the Russo-Japanese War that broke out on the territory of China; From the fall of Northeast China to the Lugouqiao Incident on September 18th, the Nanjing Massacre country was destroyed. As the only one of the four ancient civilizations that has survived to this day, as a civilized country that has created countless splendid cultures, and as the boss of East Asia since ancient times, China has almost lost everything it can lose in these two hundred years: the tributary system has completely collapsed, the vassal States have all become independent, the Silk Road has ceased to exist, and even its own land has lost millions of square kilometers. In the end, it almost made the Japanese perish.

? So, after so much suffering, how can China people have no strong obsession, and how can they have no obsession that other peoples can't understand? It was the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the re-emergence of China.

? I believe that faith has different concrete manifestations in every era. More than 1000 years ago, Xuanzang's belief was to seek truth from the scriptures, carry forward Buddhism and universalize all beings. Liu Changchun's belief is to let the Chinese nation get rid of the shame of "the sick man of East Asia"; Mandela's belief is to treat people of all colors and races equally. The belief of the 800 warriors in Sihacang is to resist foreign invasion and defend the country! Today's belief is to work hard, create wealth and live a better life. There is nothing wrong with pursuing wealth, but I think wealth is only a means, not an end. We pursue wealth in order to live a beautiful and happy life, rather than being mercenary, abandoning faith and being enslaved by wealth.

? Today, a number of outstanding and responsible entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, educators and politicians have emerged in our country. I believe that under their leadership, no matter how the external environment changes, no matter whether it is good or bad, we will eventually reach the other side of victory and live a happy life.
