Wuhan University, referred to as "Wu Da", is located in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It is a comprehensive national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and ranks among the national "double first-class", "985 Project" and "21/project" key construction universities. Wuhan University can be traced back to the self-improvement school founded by Zhang Zhidong, Governor of Huguang, in Wuchang in 1893.

After inheritance and evolution, 1928 was named as the National Wuhan University, which was the first batch of national universities in modern China. 1946, the school was renamed as "National Wuhan University".

1949, Wuhan University closed. 195 1 year, Wuhan university was rebuilt and became one of the first key universities in China. 198 1 year, the Interim Measures for Appraisal of Scientific and Technological Research Achievements in Colleges and Universities was promulgated, and Wuhan University was approved as one of the first universities in China to carry out appraisal.

Wuhan University covers 12 disciplines, including literature, history, philosophy, economics, law, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management and teaching. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, Wuhan University ranked first in the country in four disciplines: Marxist theory, geophysics, surveying and mapping science and technology, library and information, and file management.

Wuhan University has a strong faculty and a group of experts and scholars with profound academic attainments, great international influence and high domestic reputation. At present, there are 3,728 full-time teachers, including 2,406 full-time professors, 957 doctoral supervisors, academicians 10, 23 leading talents of "Ten Thousand Talents Program" and 23 "Changjiang Scholar" distinguished professor.

There are 17 candidates for the National Million Talents Program, 30 candidates for the National Special Support Program for High-level Talents, 17 candidates for the National Top-notch Talents Program, 4 innovative groups of the National Natural Science Foundation and 6 scientific and technological innovation teams of the Ministry of Education.
