Fudan University Library, formerly known as the May 5th Reading Room, was officially built in 1922. Now it consists of liberal arts museum, science museum, medical museum, Zhangjiang museum and Jiangwan museum, covering an area of 55,933 square meters. By the end of 2007, there were 4.8 million books (including bound volumes) in China, including nearly 400,000 ancient books (including 60,000 rare books) and 654.38+10,000 books of the Republic of China. In 2000, we ordered more than 7,000 kinds of Chinese and western paper periodicals, 0.26 million copies of e-books, 29,000 kinds of Chinese and western full-text electronic periodicals and 253 kinds of databases.
Existing employees 193 people, including 6 senior titles, 32 deputy senior titles and 89 intermediate titles. There are 7 doctors, 47 masters and 50 undergraduates. The current curator is Professor Chen Sihe. The working departments of the library include: interview department, cataloging department, liberal arts circulation department, science circulation department, medical circulation department, newspaper department, ancient books department, digitization department, reference and consultation department, sci-tech novelty retrieval workstation, literature retrieval teaching and research section, office, comprehensive business department, international exchange department and editorial department of academic journals.
