The library of Northeast Petroleum University was founded in 1960, and the new library was put into use in 2005, with a construction area of 45,000 square meters and more than 3,000 reading seats. The total assets of books, furniture and equipment exceed 40 million yuan. There are 56 employees in the library, which consists of seven departments: office, resource construction department, reader service department, teaching and research department, information technology department, school history editing and research room and comprehensive archives room.

The library has 2,550,500 paper books, 2,400,000 online e-books, and 1500 electronic periodical documents, and has 6 domestic and foreign literature databases 16. At present, a multi-language and multi-carrier comprehensive collection system has been formed to adapt to the setting of disciplines and specialties in colleges and universities and the development of regional politics, economy and culture. The library and the school network center are connected by 10 Gigabit optical fiber, with more than 500 networking terminals. At present, the library uses GLIS(9.0) library automation integrated management system, which realizes all automatic management from book acquisition, cataloging, book collection to inquiry and borrowing, and can catalog online through CALIS, which has a fast and efficient public inquiry function and can realize readers' online reservation for renewal of books.
