According to the inquiry of jiande city Municipal People's Government, jiande city belongs to Hangzhou, which is located in the west of Zhejiang Province, upstream of Qiantang River, east of Hangzhou, south of Jinhua and Yiwu, west of Quzhou and north of Qiandao Lake. The whole city covers an area of 232 1 km2, governs 16 towns (streets) and has a total population of 505,478. Jiande has a history of nearly 1800 years since it was established as a county in the fourth year of the Three Kingdoms (AD 225). It is the seat of the government of Guzhou and Yanzhou. During the Three Kingdoms period, Sun rose and was named General Yang Wei, which means "making contributions", hence the name Jiande. In the long historical development, Jiande has been visited by historical celebrities because of its unique beauty and its position as the political and cultural center of western Zhejiang, leaving immortal works and historical footprints, such as Li Bai, Meng Haoran, Lu You, Fan Zhongyan, etc., among which Meng Haoran's Night Sleeping in Jiande is the most famous. Another historical masterpiece, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Water Margin and Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio, has deep roots with Jiande, among which Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio, which was first completed at hanger-on Pavilion in Yanzhou, has become a treasure of the National Library.
