1878, the first well of Kailuan coal mine in Hebei province was dug. In order to transport coal, the Qing government agreed to build a railway with a length of 10 km between Tangshan and Xugezhuang. The railway was completed in 1880 and opened to traffic in 188 1 year. After the completion of the railway, donkey-horse trailers were initially used. Later, according to the design of foreign engineers, the boilers on imported machines were removed, and the steel for wheels and car bodies were also imported, thus a steam locomotive named "China Rocket" was built, which can haul about 100 tons of goods. This is the first locomotive made by China himself.
