Hunan University Library has five departments: literature acquisition department, resource processing department, literature lending department, digital and graphic construction department, scientific research cooperation department, reader service center, sci-tech novelty retrieval center, special collection branch, north campus branch and library office, which implement the business operation and administrative management of the whole library.

The library has been built in an all-round way, and the integrated management of library automation has been opened. All the north and south campuses adopt standard PDS wiring, and the backbone of the network is 10 Gigabit Ethernet, with nearly a thousand information points reaching the desktop, which fully meets the requirements of digital library construction for high speed, high performance and high reliability of the network platform.
