Mudanjiang Teachers College was established in 1958. It has experienced four stages of development: Nenjiang Branch of Northeast Agricultural College, Bei 'an Teachers College, Ning 'an Teachers College and Mudanjiang Teachers College. It is the first batch of normal undergraduate colleges approved by the State Council with the right to award bachelor's degrees, and it is an ordinary institution of higher learning in Heilongjiang Province. The school has more than 23,000 graduate students, full-time undergraduates, international students and adult students.

It is a garden-style unit in Heilongjiang Province. With a building area of 20,300 square meters, the library has an advanced digital library and an international online document retrieval system, with more than 2.2 million books (including 510.5 million e-books) and more than 3,000 Chinese and foreign periodicals.
