Hohai University Library was established in September, 1986. It consists of three campus libraries with a total area of about 4 1000 square meters. The library has more than1900,000 paper documents. The whole museum has five business departments, including the Ministry of Resources Construction, the reader service department, the technical department, the information department and the office. There are seven reading rooms, including teachers' reference books, students' reference books, current periodicals, back periodicals, new books, retrieval rooms and electronic reading rooms, with more than 1000 reading seats. Further improve the structure and allocation of library resources, realize campus online enjoyment, and provide a strong guarantee for teaching and scientific research. While providing multi-level literature information services, the library has formulated strict rules and regulations and operating procedures, strengthened scientific management, and improved work efficiency and service quality. Since its establishment, the library has won many honorary titles, such as Changzhou City, Hohai University, advanced collective on campus and civilized unit.

The library of the school headquarters and Jiangning campus covers an area of about 3 1 0,000 square meters, the library of Changzhou campus covers an area of about 9,000 square meters, and there is also a reference room 1 0,000 square meters, with an average library area of 1.76 square meters.

There are 39 online databases and CD-ROM databases in the library, including more than 700,000 electronic books, 80,000 electronic journals (including more than 30,000 full-text electronic journals) and about 30 electronic documents per student. The total collection of paper and electronic documents per student in the school is about 95 kinds.

The library receives millions of readers every year, and the average annual borrowing volume of paper documents is more than 700,000, and the average annual borrowing volume of students is 25 times. The number of clicks on online electronic documents is increasing greatly, with an average of 133 clicks per student.

Since 2004, the library has also strengthened the project construction of "Digital Teaching Resource Database", made full use of the digital literature advantages of the library to serve the undergraduate teaching of the school, and developed the "Undergraduate Teaching Resource Information Management and Service System" in cooperation with the Academic Affairs Office, which has 12 functional modules such as "Specialty Setting", "Training Scheme" and "Bibliography", realizing the integration with "Excellent Courses" and "Excellent Courses".

In 2000, the library used Huiwen book management system, established local area network, interconnected with campus network, connected with CERNET and INTERNET, and realized 24-hour all-weather services on campus network, including information retrieval and connection services such as book information inquiry, electronic literature reading, water conservancy information resource navigation, graduation thesis catalogue and commonly used software download. Library 1998 was approved as the novelty retrieval unit of the Ministry of Water Resources; In 2000, it was approved as a sci-tech novelty retrieval unit in Jiangsu Province; In 2004, it was approved as a novelty retrieval unit of the Ministry of Education.
