Legal basis: Measures of People's Republic of China (PRC) Customs on the Supervision of the Entry and Exit of Printed Materials and Audio-visual Products.
Article 7 Printed matter and audio-visual products imported for personal use shall be released duty-free by the customs: (1) Books, newspapers and periodicals published separately shall not exceed 10 copies per person at a time; (two) each person issued a single disc (disc) of audio-visual products less than twenty discs; (3) complete sets of books published, no more than three sets per person at a time; (four) complete sets of audio-visual products, not less than three sets per person at a time.
Article 9 Under any of the following circumstances, the customs shall go through the relevant formalities for all imported printed matter and audio-visual products as imported goods: (1) Individuals carrying or mailing books, newspapers and periodicals published in singles into the country, with more than 50 copies per person at a time; (two) individuals carrying or mailing single disc (disc) audio-visual products into the country, each time more than 100 disc; (3) Individuals carrying or mailing complete sets of books and publications into the country, each with more than ten sets at a time; (four) individuals carrying or mailing complete sets of audio-visual products into the country, each with more than ten sets; (5) Other characteristics of the commodity. Under any of the circumstances listed in the preceding paragraph, the consignor, owner and agent of imported printed matter and audio-visual products may apply for returning the imported printed matter and audio-visual products according to law.
