Plagiarism in Xu Wei
In February 2003, Liu Yi, another famous English tutor, Xu Wei's strong rival in English tutorial education, set up "Liu Yi English tutor class", accusing her of allegedly copying the English lecture notes edited by the class, and suing the police. At that time, the media reported: "Both sides are well-known English remedial class educators, which made the case particularly eye-catching and triggered discussions between the cram school students and their parents. In 2004, the prosecution decided that the English textbooks of Xu Wei cram school had indeed copied Liu Yi's textbooks, and sued Jiang Meijing, director of Xu Wei Huazhong Cultural and Educational Institution. Xu Wei himself was not prosecuted for lack of evidence, and the storm came to an end for the time being. In March, 2006, the media reported that Xu Wei Cultural Enterprise Co., Ltd., a member of Xu Wei cultural and educational institutions, published a single-character handbook for Grade One 1 volume, and copied the textbook English for Senior High School published by Far East Book Company in the same chapter and paragraph. In June 2005, Far East Book Company filed a lawsuit with the court. At that time, the cultural and educational institutions in Xu Wei explained that this was due to the negligence of "work-study program", replied with an apology and promised not to plagiarize again, and offered to compensate NT$ 250,000. On June 5th, 2006, Taipei District Inspection Office sued Xu Wei and Jiang (Xu Wei's husband, head teacher of Xu Wei cultural and educational institution) for violating copyright law. The public prosecutor accused Jiang of instructing the reformed students to reprint the textbooks of Xu Wei cultural and educational institutions according to the contents of the Second Book of New Era Far East Senior Middle School English and the Second Book of New Analysis of Far East Senior Middle School English by Far East Book Company.
