First, the real teaching you is "don't rely on people according to law." What is Buddhism? Classic. What is a person? We don't rely on what he says or what he notes. We focus on classics. We study annotations, relying on the annotations of the ancients, not the annotations of the present. Why? Not reliable, not tempered by history. For example, master lianchi's "Sparing Money" has been circulating for 500 years. How many talented people have read it in the past 500 years, and we can believe it. If there was a problem, it would have been eliminated long ago, because printing was inconvenient at that time and manual copying was needed. Woodblock printing is carved word by word, which takes a lot of time! If it's not true, who will pay the bill? Who wants to circulate this thing? Therefore, this is the witness of history, which proves that what he said is true, not false. The older things are, the more reliable they are, and so are articles. Everything handed down is good. For example, Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan, great writers in the Tang Dynasty, wrote countless articles in their lives. The best has been handed down, and the second one has long been lost. Why? Nobody wants to spread it. So these things are more real and valuable as they get older, so I advise you to look less at what people have now.

Actually, classical Chinese is not difficult! The secret of learning classical Chinese is reading, and reading often. Once upon a time, children could recite 500 pieces of ancient Chinese without word barriers. Are we going to read China's View on Ancient Literature now? I'm telling you, you don't have to Read this classic. Master lianchi's writings in classical Chinese are very shallow and the best. You can read this book every day for three years, and your classical Chinese will pass. Watch a few paragraphs every day, and you don't have to watch anything else. I know not only classical Chinese, but also classics. Why? If you teach truth, you will get results, and if you can concentrate on it, you will get results. This is the dharma.

Second, once upon a time, in the imperial era, lectures could not be given casually, and seals could not be printed casually. If you want to print a Buddhist sutra and circulate it, you need government approval. Without approval, it can't be circulated casually. So in the past, the classics were all issued by the emperor. Even if there are comments, they should be given to the emperor first. How did the emperor have time to read them? He went to those wizards and great laymen and experts to see if there were any problems. No problem, ok! The next imperial edict can be circulated and engraved by everyone. It was not promulgated by the state and decided to ban circulation. The preacher, whether a mage or a layman, must also get the approval of the court or local officials. Now it is democracy and freedom. You can print whatever you want, and no one interferes with you. So in modern times, the devil is one foot high and the Tao is ten feet high. So we were born in this era, and what puzzles us most is this matter.

What should we do if we want to avoid this difficult problem? The only way is to read ancient books. Ancient books have been tested by history and circulated for hundreds of years. If it is not really good, it will not be handed down and will be eliminated in hundreds of years. It has not been eliminated, and it can survive today. It must be of considerable value, so we read ancient books. Are ancient books difficult to read? Not difficult! As long as you have the patience to work hard for two or three years, this ancient text is classical Chinese, and you can read it. Especially in modern times, we can even teach ourselves without a teacher. The Selected Works of Ancient and Modern Literature published by Guoyu Daily contains many good ancient prose with detailed phonetic notation, so you can really study it yourself. If you study classics wholeheartedly, as long as you are willing to look them up in the dictionary, the meaning is not difficult to understand. You should know that the text of Buddhist scriptures is much shallower than that of ancient prose, and it was the simplest text at that time. Buddhism requires universal circulation, so don't use difficult words for fear that ordinary people can't understand them. When translating Buddhism, it is considered popular and universal. Therefore, the words of Buddhist scriptures are called "different languages", in other words, the vernacular at that time, which is easy to understand. There are many old ladies who read Buddha. She can't read She can read the Bible. She knows the meaning of the Bible. That's the reason.

This is about watching and listening. Learning Buddhism really requires knowledge, which is true in theory! As far as matter is concerned, there is a limit, which we must know. Nowadays, the way of learning in the world, like Hu Shizhi, has a metaphor: learning is like a pyramid. There is a large area under the pyramid, and it has a top. This means that learning needs to be knowledgeable and specialize in one subject. This is the law of the world. Buddhism is to turn the pyramid upside down, and Buddhism is to specialize first and then learn. When you study in a school, you have to study dozens of courses. The more you go to colleges and universities, the more specialized you are in colleges and research institutes, as if the pyramid has reached the top. This is the theory of the world. Otherwise, the ancients often used trees as a metaphor. What does Buddhism seek first? Root-seeking is the trunk, and then branches and flowers are born from the trunk, which is more and more extensive. Therefore, learning Buddhism is just the opposite of secular law and law. First you specialize in a subject, then you can learn more and hear more. Therefore, erudition is not suitable for beginners. Who is knowledgeable? Bodhisattva.

Third, there are too many good things like ancient sages and sages, and they can't be read all their lives! Therefore, I often advise fellow initiates to read ancient books. I can't understand the classical Chinese in ancient books. It doesn't make sense! Your own confidence should also be strengthened. If you don't have the confidence to read classical Chinese, you can't learn Buddhism! How to build confidence in learning Buddhism? The year before last, an American studied for a doctorate at National Taiwan University. He lived in our library for four months, and he speaks fluent Mandarin. He can read Hua Yan Jing and Cool Teacher's Notes. He only studied Chinese for four years, and I admire him very much. He is now in Shen, new york. It's not hard to see! Foreigners can read China's classical Chinese in four years. We in China are always more convenient to read classical Chinese than foreigners!

How to learn classical Chinese? It's simple. You can read the Amitabha Sutra a hundred times from beginning to end, and the problem will be solved. If you don't know a word, look it up in the dictionary and read it a hundred times. Just have a basic knowledge of classical Chinese, and there is no obstacle to reading anything. Once upon a time, when you were studying ancient Chinese and reciting, you had the ability to read if you could recite 50 articles, and you had the ability to write if you could recite 100 articles. This is the old teaching method. You don't have to recite classical Chinese today, just read Buddhist scriptures. We read every day, and after three years, it will pass naturally, and there will be no obstacles. You know, classical Chinese is a key, a treasure house of wisdom and experience accumulated by ancient sages and sages over the past five thousand years, and a tool. If you get this key, you will benefit from Sanzang Classic and Siku Quanshu. All this has been tested by history and is true knowledge. Unlike things now, things have not been tested. You have this key, and the treasure is your own; You don't have this key, but you have "Four Ku Quanshu" and "Sanzang Classic" at home. There is no merit in piling up a pile of waste paper in that place to feed bookworms! So now people have invited the Tibetan scriptures home, but they don't read them themselves and refuse to lend them to others. My family has the treasure of Buddha statue and the magic weapon of sutra collection, thinking that the three treasures at home are enough to protect him. What is a protector? Check it carefully. The worms that grow in books are protectors. Classics are eaten by bugs, which is a sin! If you don't read it yourself, you must lend it to others and spread the Buddhism. How can Buddhism be stingy? How can you not give it to others? All ministries and commissions talk about circulation and have a circulation point. I hope you can pass it on for three generations and ten parties.

There are also some puzzling things, all of which are crimes of nose hell. After the classic, it is printed with "All Rights Reserved. Reprinting must be investigated. " This is a non-circulating decision. This experience belongs only to me. In other words, he decided to go to Abbey Hell. How does the classic do this? You look after the classics printed by Dade. They must be printed with "Welcome to circulation, no merit" on the back. This must be the printing method. I hope you can circulate it. What is printed now is "no circulation, reprint will be investigated", and the annotations of classics and ancient prose are monopolized. This is an obstacle to the circulation of Buddhism and a destruction of the dharma body and wisdom of all sentient beings. It's like taking the copyright of Sakyamuni Buddha and the copyright of the ancients! When did Sakyamuni Buddha and the ancient monk Dade give you the copyright? Never heard of it! It's really puzzling. So I saw funny! Those with this word after them are all nasal hell, which has been registered. Some really good students, I told him, we carry forward Buddhism, what ancient sages should vigorously carry forward, copy them to help spread, and welcome their own works to be reprinted, which is also widely circulated for the benefit of all beings.

Fourth, the classical Chinese will gradually be lost in the future, which is the misfortune of our whole nation. I think the greatest legacy and the richest treasure left by our ancestors is classical Chinese, which is not available in any country or nation in the world. This invention is really amazing! Ancient ancestors knew that spoken and written language would change with the times. If we want to pass on the wisdom and knowledge of those people at that time to future generations for reference, how can we preserve them for future generations to see and talk face to face, and then invent classical Chinese? Language will change at any time, and classical Chinese will never change.

Today, we read Confucius' books, just like writing letters to friends. Although we read the book more than two thousand years ago, we still don't misunderstand the meaning like talking face to face. This is the advantage of classical Chinese. We look at the ancient Chinese characters of other countries, as well as those written 2,000 years ago, which need to be appraised by archaeologists and professionals, which is not as convenient as that of China people. This is the thoughtfulness of China's ancestors to their descendants, which is not found in the whole world. If we throw away the classical Chinese today, how can we be worthy of our ancestors? These thousands of years, these are the thoughts, opinions and wisdom of sages. If we can master classical Chinese, this treasure belongs to ourselves, which really increases our knowledge and knowledge.

There is really no secret to learning classical Chinese. Since ancient times, there is only one method: reciting. Teacher Li used to teach in Taichung, and his old man told us, "If you can recite 50 ancient texts, you can read classical Chinese;" If you can recite a hundred classical Chinese, you can write classical Chinese. "So let's China since ancient times, what is taught in primary education? Endorsement, the advantage of endorsement is here, laying the foundation of classical Chinese. In the early years of the Republic of China, the classical Chinese written by eleven or twelve-year-old children was very good, but now the students of Chinese Department in universities can't write it.

I remember in a lecture in a junior college. I copied some model essays of primary school students in the early years of the Republic of China and posted them in this place for college students to see. Why does he write so well? Recite ancient Chinese! Now people refuse to endorse, and it gives them a headache. There is nothing they can do. They must support it. Now we encourage fellow practitioners who study Buddhism to pay attention to classical Chinese. Why? All the classics are written in classical Chinese. If we are too lazy to read classical Chinese and watch modern people translate classics in vernacular Chinese, the translation of classics in vernacular Chinese is full of mistakes, which is definitely not the original intention. So if you really want to get the benefits of Buddhism, you must get this tool yourself.

5. Printing was not developed before, and China's printing was invented in Song Dynasty. It's too expensive to carve a plate with wood blocks and brush it one by one. If it is not really a good thing, who will contribute to your circulation? Unlike now, printing is developed, and printed things are too cheap, which used to be difficult! Therefore, what the ancients left behind today can be said to have withstood the test of the times and history, withstood the test and withstood the criticism of the public. It is really a good thing to pass it on to future generations.

Therefore, I advise fellow initiates not to look at modern annotations, but to look at ancient annotations. Why? Whether he is true or not in modern people, we have no ability to tell. Really, it is good for us. If we see a fake, we will be cheated! I don't have the ability to distinguish, so I might as well look at the things of the ancients, which are reliable! Just like our book, master lianchi has been away from us for more than 500 years. It has been 80 years since the late Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. We can rest assured that there are many great monks and great virtues. So I don't look down on people's things, as many people know. I definitely don't look down on modern people. I have no foresight. Don't be silly! So think about it, the ancients were recognized by everyone, which is more reliable. That's why I read East and West by the ancients. Today, it will be a good thing if these works can stand the test in another 500 years. This is a standard we choose.

Ancient prose is difficult to read, but it is actually a psychological effect. It is not difficult to read it several times! I have read the compositions of primary school students in the early years of the Republic of China, and the articles written by children of eleven or twelve. Now, a student of the Chinese Department of the university may have to look up his articles in the dictionary, and there are still many places he doesn't understand. Why can people at that time, but we can't now? It's not that people nowadays can't read classical Chinese. The secret of classical Chinese is nothing more than reading and reciting. From the front desk, Mr. Li taught us that if you can recite 50 ancient texts, you will have the ability to read and there will be no obstacles. Can read classical Chinese. If you can recite 100 pieces of ancient Chinese, you can write classical Chinese. He encouraged us to recite, so now I advise the students to recite the 48 chapters of Infinite Life Sutra and Infinite Life Sutra, only two chapters less than the 50 chapters stipulated by Teacher Li, which is almost the same. If you can recite the Infinite Life Sutra, there will be no problem in your reading ability and writing. Therefore, this should be done. You don't have to recite it deliberately. Deliberately recite it to increase the pressure. Read it at least three times a day, every day, and you will recite it after one year. You don't have to recite it, you will recite it naturally! Many of our fellow initiates learned it by heart after three months. It can be seen that this is not a difficult thing, but depends on your own efforts.

6. "Reading history classics absorbs the experience of the ancients and learning to absorb the achievements of today's people, that is, reading thousands of books, taking Wan Li Road and learning Tommy." Amitabha's achievements in wisdom and merit are admired even if scientists now hear about it. Why? He is really in line with the scientific spirit. Reading, modern beings have suffered so much, in fact, it is a mistake not to read. Our ancient sages in China really thought meticulously about future generations, which is not found in any country or nation in the world, so we know the great kindness of our ancestors. The ancestors handed down their wisdom, experience and lessons from generation to generation, hoping that future generations would carry forward and surpass each other on this basis. This is an idea and concept of ancient people in China, hoping that each generation will be better than the next.

What methods should be used to pass on his wisdom and experience to future generations? This requires a tool. In the past, there were no televisions and tape recorders. How can you leave this thing to future generations? Language, to be honest, can't spread for long. Why? It will change, new terms are often popular, and future generations can't understand the meaning of their predecessors. Words will change with words, so the ancients in China thought of a wonderful way. Language and words take two paths, not the same one. Therefore, this article is called classical Chinese, which is different from Chinese. Chinese will change with the times, and classical Chinese will never change, and this problem will be solved. Only with this unchangeable tool can people, their wisdom and their experience thousands of years ago be preserved and passed on to future generations, which no country or nation in the world has. Now we Chinese descendants are really unfilial, big unfilial! We abandoned the wealth of our ancestors, denied it and didn't want it. This is a great disaster. This is sorry for our ancestors.

Is classical Chinese difficult to learn? It's not difficult to learn! Let's look at the early years of the Republic of China. I am in Taiwan Province Province. I used to collect several (I used to have more than a dozen) primary school students' compositions and pamphlets in the early years of the Republic of China, and now there are more than a dozen. Now? People will not pay me back if they borrow it in the future. Later, I forgot. I wonder who borrowed it. Not anymore. Now there are three copies left. I don't want to borrow these three books now. I can make a copy for him if he needs it. Copying is very convenient and I don't want to borrow it. What age are the pupils' compositions? About eleven or twelve years old, it is a composition for the fourth grade of primary school. At present, students who graduated from the College of Liberal Arts can't do it, not only can't do it, but I'm afraid they can't go on reading. Why can eleven or twelve-year-old children do it then, but college students can't do it now? So classical Chinese is not difficult! Children can do it. Not difficult. In ancient China, there were many people under the age of 20, and Jinshi was the highest academic record in the country, equivalent to a doctor now. How can it be difficult? The difficult thing is that people nowadays don't want to watch it at all, which is difficult.

There is no other trick to learning classical Chinese, that is, reading; Reading, looking at the book is called reading, not looking at the book is called reciting, and reciting is reciting. I once studied Buddhism in Taichung with an old Buddhist from Li Bingnan. Teacher Li told us that the latest translation of Buddhist scriptures was in the Song Dynasty. In other words, Buddhist classics are the simplest ancient texts. There have been too few translations since the Song Dynasty, so it is necessary to learn classical Chinese. How to learn law? He taught us that we must be familiar with 50 ancient prose, based on the "view of ancient prose". If you can recite 50 articles from the viewpoint of classical Chinese, you can read classical Chinese, such as Sikuquanshu printed in Taiwan Province Province in recent years. If you can recite 100 pieces of ancient Chinese, you can write classical Chinese. Recite one article a week, spend a year, or recite fifty articles, and we will get the key to classical Chinese. Sikuquanshu and Sanzang Classic, for me, once the writing barrier is broken, you can understand it. This is a treasure house of wisdom and experience of ancient sages, which are all provided for our reference. The history of reading classics absorbs the experience of the ancients.

If you want to say that ancient books are worthless, ancient things are worthless. Look at the recent Iraq war. I see that Sun Tzu's Art of War is often quoted in newspapers. Do they really understand Sun Tzu's Art of War? I didn't understand the decision, only a sentence or two. Knowing a word or two will win the battle. Look at that. The development of science to this extent is inseparable from Sun Tzu's Art of War. As you know, the wisdom and experience of China's ancient sages are beyond our imagination, so we should read ancient books and history. When you read history and get historical facts, you will see things deeply and far away. This is that you have a historical vision and your judgment is different from that of ordinary people. Therefore, classics and history must be read. This is a vertical science, which combines thousands of years of orthodoxy, wisdom, experience and lessons.

Horizontally speaking, Buddhism is about participation in learning, which is sightseeing in our current words. Go to every country and region to see how they do it, learn from their advantages and discard their shortcomings, so as to build their own country. This country is a world-class country, and no other country can compare with it. This is true wisdom, and it is definitely not behind closed doors. Therefore, reading thousands of books is to learn from the experience of the ancients, and taking Wan Li Road is to inspect, visit and absorb modern knowledge. As the saying goes, "Remember the past and learn from the future." That's how Amitabha learned it. In fact, he set an example for us, and so did our ancient sages in China. At that time, we were ancient sages of China, and the ancients and the West Indies had never met, had a meeting or talked. Their remarks, opinions and practices are exactly the same. This is what the ancients called "great minds think alike", and the views of truly wise people are very close.

-

Seven, especially the word "filial piety", the writing in China is not found in any country or nation in the world. Our ancestors did take good care of their offspring. Invented this method, the wisdom and experience of thousands of ancient sages can be passed on to thousands of generations in this way. This is a very great invention, which makes us deeply grateful to our ancestors. We know that words and languages in the world are the same, and so are languages. Language will change with the changes of the times, so the words and terms used by ancient people can't be understood or understood by future generations. Just like Greek in the west now, no one can understand their ancient Chinese and Indian Sanskrit. Only China invented classical Chinese. He separated Chinese from English and went two ways. The language changes with you, the classical Chinese will never change, and there is one thing that will never change. Therefore, you should really understand classical Chinese. You read the works of Confucius, who has been with us for 2500 years. Today, when we read The Analects of Confucius, we can understand his meaning just like talking face to face with Confucius and communicating directly. So this invention is not available all over the world.

The cultivation of classical Chinese is very simple. You can read as long as you can read fifty ancient texts. If you can read 100 ancient prose, you can write. So in ancient China, 12-year-old children could write good classical Chinese. What we saw today is very strange. In fact, they have been learning ancient Chinese since they were six or seven years old. After studying for five or seven years, he can write and he can read, so it is not difficult. Buddhist classics are shallower than our ancient prose in China, which is what we call variant prose. Because Buddhism was introduced to China in the post-Han period, the Buddhist scriptures were written in the simplest words in order to popularize the classics, so the words of Buddhist scriptures were easier to understand than the ancient prose. This is a classic. These great men have given us a lot of convenience, which we need to know clearly.

The word "filial piety" is knowledge, which teaches us to understand the meaning. The word above is "Lao" and the word below is "Zi", which is a combination of the two. It means telling us that the previous generation and the next generation are one, not two. Now westerners say that there is a generation gap between father and son. There is no filial piety if there is a generation gap, and there is no generation gap. Filial piety is the fusion of the previous generation and the next generation. The previous generation has the previous generation, and the past has no beginning; The next generation has the next generation, and the future has no end. It is a whole without beginning or end. Confucianism is the concept, and Buddhism says it is a fact. What is the so-called "vertical poverty in San Ji, spreading in all directions"? Is the perfect self. Self-nature is dharma realm, and dharma realm is one's own sincerity and self-nature. In China, we use the word "filial piety", which is full of this meaning. So we have to ask, who can make filial piety complete, complete, and lack nothing? I tell you, only when you become a Buddha can you be complete. Because there is still one thing that the bodhisattva has not broken, that is, filial piety is incomplete and unclean. It can be seen that this word means that we can't leave the word "little light" from ordinary people to Buddha. Small light is a common practice of all Buddhism. It is not only Jing Zong's classics that preach this truth and explain this fact to us. Even if the Buddha is alive, all the dharma circles mentioned in the past 49 years have never left these two words. Therefore, the name of this Dojo means endless profundity.

It can be seen that not being filial to parents is not only unfilial, but also unfilial to parents, brothers, and children. In a word, you tell your parents to worry and you tell them to care, which is unfilial. It is unfilial not to work hard in society; It is also unfilial to disobey an official; You are also unfilial if you don't abide by national laws and regulations; You and your colleagues can't live in harmony and work together, which is also unfilial. It can be seen that this "filial piety" is all-encompassing. I hope fellow practitioners will make serious efforts and learn more about it. Both Buddhism and Confucius and Mencius education are based on filial piety. In Buddhism, this method is represented by the Tibetan Bodhisattva, so the Tibetan scriptures are Buddhist filial piety. Earth is the heart, and hiding is the treasure. We have infinite wisdom and infinite virtue in our hearts, which are endless treasures in our hearts. Master Liu Zu said that "self-nature should be enough", everything is lacking, and self-nature is enough. Filial piety is filial piety to teachers, which is a kind of sexual virtue. Only by honoring teachers can we develop the treasure of self-nature. Therefore, the Confucian teaching is centered on filial piety, and the Buddhist teaching is also centered on filial piety, which is where the saints born coincide with the human teaching.

Eight, interpretation of the classic, lecture statement everyone has, leaving so many books and lessons, this is our China people, everyone has a copy, is an endless cultural heritage. If we are willing to inherit and accept this heritage, our ancestors only ask us one condition. As long as you meet this condition, the inheritance will be given to you.

What is this condition? It is classical Chinese. Why put forward this condition? This is the extremely clever wisdom of our ancient ancestors in China, which we never thought of when observing the whole world today. This is how to pass on their wisdom and experience, and keep that purity forever for thousands of years and will not change. This tool is too important. Our ancestors knew that writing would change with the times, so we modern people don't understand the ancient writing. If the words and language are consistent, after a long time, later people will not understand the language. What we see in the west, like Greek and Latin, has become their ancient prose, and very few archaeologists are still groping there and cannot be widely circulated. Therefore, China's ancestors Cong,,,,, Ming, from the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, divided language and writing into two ways. You can change the language at will, but my writing remains the same. This method is wonderful! Today, you can understand classical Chinese. Reading the Analects of Confucius is a dialogue with Confucius, and reading Mencius is a dialogue with Mr. Meng. We can communicate with each other without misunderstanding or mistakes. Therefore, classical Chinese is the greatest invention of China ancient sages. With such tools and methods, the wisdom, talents and accumulated experience of our predecessors have been passed on to us.

It's hard for people to see classical Chinese nowadays! It is a fact that it is much easier than learning English. Where is the difficulty? The difficulty is that you refuse to learn. Our teachers in Taichung used to learn Buddhist scriptures. Teacher Li told us that the latest version of Buddhist scripture translation is the Southern Song Dynasty. There were few classics translated in the Southern Song Dynasty, and almost seven or eight were translated in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. At that time, these eminent monks and great virtues had considered that the words used in the classics were the simplest words, that is, the vernacular we said at that time, the vernacular at that time. Therefore, you should compare Buddhist scriptures with ancient prose, and compare them with Guanzi, the most common ancient prose. Our Buddhist scriptures are much simpler than that. Look at the amitabha sutra we read. It doesn't seem difficult for you to understand. Amitabha Sutra was translated in the Yao and Qin Dynasties in the Northern and Southern Dynasties before Sui and Tang Dynasties. You see, this writing is contemporary with Tao Yuanming and Xie Lingyun at that time, and with Master Rush. It can be seen that Tao Yuanming's article is much more profound than the Amitabha Sutra. So the great virtue of turning over Buddhist scriptures exhausted his mind to help future generations. Many of us now ask why Buddhist scriptures are not translated into vernacular Chinese. The ancients have tried their best to simplify there, and they really deserve us. Classical Chinese can really be cultivated. If we can pass this level of writing, we will be able and qualified to accept the heritage left by our ancestors, which is the richest heritage in the world.

Teacher Li often teaches us. Where did he learn classical Chinese? We should start by reciting ancient Chinese. He taught us that if you can memorize 50 ancient prose, his standard is to choose from the "view of ancient prose". If you can remember 50 articles, you can read classical Chinese. If you can recite a hundred articles, you can write classical Chinese. So he taught us to recite, and now it is much more convenient to really work hard than before. The Selected Works of Ancient and Modern Times compiled by Taiwan Province Mandarin Daily has been printed a lot so far, and the Ancient Literature Review may have included about 300 articles. Among them, we can choose 50 or 60 articles to read carefully according to the standard of "ancient prose". Make this condition first, and then you will study Buddhist scriptures and China's ancient books, and you will have a foundation. Therefore, you must never give up classical Chinese. If someone tells you to give up classical Chinese, you will be fooled if you listen to him. It is tantamount to giving up the legacy left by our ancestors for thousands of years. It's a pity to give up this. It's an endless treasure house of wisdom.

Fellow practitioners who study Buddhism, especially those over middle age, do have difficulties in memorizing ancient Chinese, so the younger the better. I often encourage fellow practitioners to teach your children and encourage them to be familiar with classical Chinese. You can spend two or three years staring at him and urging him. Although he feels pain now, he will be grateful to you for a lifetime in the future.
