Chongqing Three Gorges College came into being with the construction of the world-famous Three Gorges Project on the Yangtze River, and was established with the approval of the State Education Commission on March 1994. Her predecessor was Wanxian Teachers College and Wanxian Education College, located in Wanzhou, Chongqing.
