Chongqing University Library has strong information technology development and research capabilities, especially the research on network databases. According to the tenet of "literature support and cultural education", Chongqing University Library strives to build a first-class modern university library in China and become a comprehensive literature information center in western China, and gradually realize the networking and electronization of library information resources, the integration and automation of management means, and the diversification and modernization of service functions.

In 2003, the library and the School of Economics and Management of Chongqing University jointly applied for a master's degree in information science.

At the same time, Chongqing University Library has made great efforts to carry out theoretical and practical research on digital library, making digital library a landmark achievement of Chongqing University's "2 1 1 project" document information resource guarantee system, which has been widely praised both inside and outside the school, with about 10000 visitors per day.
