During the National Revolution, General Chen Keyu was the head of the Guard Corps in President Sun Yat-sen's base camp, the deputy commander of the Fourth Army of the National Revolutionary Army, the acting commander, and the director of the Guangdong Provincial Military Department.
In the 22nd year of the Republic of China (1933), at the initiative of Mr. Chen, a "library" was established in Baishitan, the hometown of the general. The semi-circular pavilion is built in the front yard, leaning against the walls on the east and west sides of the museum, and the west pavilion is inlaid with the preface of architectural stone carvings. 1937, War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out in an all-round way, and Chen Keyu moved back to Shitan Jingyu Library from Ershatou Village in Guangzhou. 1938, General Chen Keyu built a two-story "Library Pavilion" on the left side of Yuan Jing Library, which contained a library, office, dormitory, guard room and basement.
1942, Japanese invaders invaded Qingyuan, and Chen Keyu was very concerned about education. He gave the library, library and home to Qingyuan Middle School as a temporary school building and retired to Bai Wan with his family. 1943 Qingyuan Middle School moved back to Qingyuan City, and Chen Keyu moved back to Jingyu Library from Bai Wan to recuperate. 19441June14th, Chen Keyu died in Jingyu Library.
1949, Shitan was liberated, and the People's Liberation Army took over the Jingyue Library, the library and their families' residences as the office of Shitan Township People's Government. During the "Ten Years' Unrest", Jingyue Library, library and their families' houses were all destroyed, decorations such as kisses and chiropractors were removed, and underground ponds, stone bridges and rockeries were flooded due to years of floods.
At the beginning of 1985, Qingyuan county people's government allocated funds to rebuild Jingyu library, library and home, named the former residence "General Chen Keyu Memorial Hall" and added an archway of General Chen Keyu Memorial Hall. The restored Yuan Jing Library and former residence covers an area of 1.288 square meters, surrounded by walls, with gatehouses at the entrances on both sides, red walls and green tiles, which are quite elegant. People from all walks of life donated more than 7,000 books, and the elite library became the largest library with the largest collection of books in towns and villages in the county. The Shitan Town Government has also set up a special person to manage and open up, facilitating the people and benefiting the people. Chen Keyu's support for education is also reflected in his founding of Qingyuan Binjiang Middle School. He saw that the lack of middle school education in Binjiang mountain area was very unfavorable to the enlightenment and wisdom of the people. 1February, 944, dragging his sick body, he personally called a meeting of local enlightened gentry and suggested setting up a middle school. His suggestion received strong support, but unfortunately, the general died before seeing the school completed. Up to now, the word "Binjiang Middle School" still uses the calligraphy of General Chen Keyu.
1995, the Qingxin county government listed General Chen Keyu Memorial Hall and Monument as the first batch of county-level cultural relics protection units, and delineated the protection scope and building control zone. In 2002, the provincial government listed Chen Keyu's former residence as a provincial cultural relics protection unit.
From June 5438 to October 2004 10, Qingyuan added 90,000 yuan for the protection of provincial key cultural relics. From February 7, 2004 to October 30, 2005, the renovation project of Chen Keyu's former residence was carried out, with a total project cost of 6,543,800 yuan. Today, the renovated former residence of Chen Keyu has become an important patriotic education base in Qingxin County.
