Brief introduction of Sichuan library
Sichuan Provincial Library (new library) is located in the northeast corner of Renmin West Road and Xihuamen Street in Qingyang District, Chengdu, and officially opened in 2009. The new library covers an area of 17 mu, with a construction area of about 52,000 square meters, which is more than three times that of the old library. After completion and opening up, it will become the largest library in southwest China. The new building is simple and modern, and its overall shape resembles the palace gate of the Han Dynasty, suggesting the historical past of this land in Sichuan, which also stems from the location of the new building adjacent to the original imperial city of Chengdu. The new library is 38 meters high and the exterior of the building is light beige. With the overall architectural design, it shows the image of a modern city library with historical charm. After the completion of 2065438+2004, the new Provincial Library will hold more than 5 million books, and will be the largest public welfare literature information base, data center, regional literature network center, special literature research center and mass cultural and educational activity center in western China. The new library will have reading areas for the disabled and children, and will hold public lectures regularly. The public can borrow books and find documents for free with one card.
