Why did Wang Xizhi's original calligraphy completely disappear?
Wang Xizhi is a great calligrapher in history and is called calligrapher by later generations. As early as the Eastern Jin Dynasty, when Wang Xizhi was still alive, his calligraphy works were already very famous, and there was a story that books turned into geese, which caused a large number of people to follow suit and pursue collections.

Huan Xuan in the Eastern Jin Dynasty collected many original calligraphy works of Wang Xizhi. This was a good thing. But later, because of the manipulation of the state affairs, the usurper failed and became the object of the court's pursuit. When I left, I also took Wang Xizhi's original calligraphy with me. Running to the edge of the Yangtze River, he had an impulse of revenge. In a rage, he threw all his original works into the Yangtze River, which was the most serious loss of Wang Xizhi's original works in history.

Liang Wudi also collected many of his original works. In 544 AD, Nanliang was in danger of national subjugation. Before I fled, Huan Xuan and I had the same idea. We couldn't leave such a good thing to others, so we directly burned all the books in Nanliang, including Wang Xizhi's original works. In this scene, Nanliang lost140,000 volumes of books, among which Wang Xizhi's original works are countless. Even if Wang Xizhi is a prolific calligrapher, his works can't stand such a toss.

Therefore, even though Wang Xizhi has many works, it is really a pity that he failed to stay in the end, and he has experienced so many hardships in the middle. Calligraphy works, as a kind of cultural relics, are difficult to preserve, let alone encounter war. But don't worry too much. Calligraphy, a paper cultural relic, is difficult to preserve, and those excellent works that have been handed down smoothly are enough for us to admire.
