Creation background

1942 On May 25th, General Zuo Quan, who was only 37 years old, died in Taihang Mountain. At that time, the leaders of Liao County found Wang He, Huang Fu Shuyu and Wang Yaoling to write lyrics, and the three of them wrote lyrics together, and finally completed this song "Song of General Zuo Quan". On September 1942 and 18, Liao county was renamed as "Zuoquan county" at the request of Taihang people and approved by the government of Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan border region. Since then, this 2,000-square-kilometer land has been called "Zuo Quan".

There was an episode when writing this song. The word "wolfing down" in the lyrics is an ugly swear word in the local area, but Huang Shuyu decided to use this word after repeated discussions, because "wolfing down" can best reflect the people's dissatisfaction with the Japanese invaders. Later, when Huang Shuyu was compiling textbooks in the border area, she changed it to "Japanese devils" in order not to let the children get too exposed to this kind of "foul language". At the same time, in order to better popularize, the name of Liao County was changed to Border Region, which made the Song of General Zuo Quan widely sung among the masses and eventually became the "County Song" of Zuoquan County.
