The predecessor of Beicang is Chongqing Jiangbei Textile Factory Warehouse. The history can be traced back to the period of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, when the warehouse of a large cotton mill moved to Chongqing, making Chongqing the main cotton spinning base in China at that time. In the following decades, it has been silently contributing to the economic development of Chongqing. However, at the end of 1990s, the textile industry began to decline, and then the enterprise was restructured, and this warehouse gradually lost its function and was gradually abandoned.
After years of neglect, the glory of Beicang in the industrial age has long gone, and it has even gradually become synonymous with shabby and messy, and has become the "slum" of Guanyin Bridge, a bustling business district with an inch of land and gold.
Fortunately, a few years ago, Beicang realized nirvana rebirth through the wave of building a cultural and creative zone in Chongqing. After the transformation of famous designers at home and abroad, Beichuang combines the characteristics of large warehouse space and frame structure with modern fashion elements by using the steel bars and bones of old buildings, which not only inherits the charm of old buildings, but also ushers in gorgeous transformation.
After several years of careful construction, now Beicang has become one of the four cultural blocks in Chongqing, which is as famous as Huangjueping 50 1 and No.202 Factory. Every day, a large number of young people come to read books, take photos, drink tea, date and chat, which has become another hot spot for online celebrities.
Beicang covers a small area, but the flavor of old buildings, old streets and old Chongqing is very strong. The old warehouse, heavy iron gates and gray bricks are still there, the outer walls are mottled, the brick walls in the alleys are covered with graffiti, the stairs also retain the original cement style, and the old-fashioned power switch is well preserved.
In the meantime, the most striking thing is the prominent Beicang Library. The words "Beicang Library" are painted on the front door of the library, and the original white brick of the factory building is retained on the outer wall. The wooden structure and decoration of the library give people a full sense of style. It is said that it was once rated as "the most beautiful library in Chongqing".
In Beicang, we may be just a passer-by, but for the local people, it is a leisurely lifestyle. It may be the place where they read books and charge after busy work, or the place where they have tea and chat after visiting Guanyin Bridge, or the place where their friends get together and date couples.
It's quiet here, hidden in the downtown area, but it seems to be far away from the noise of the city. There is no traffic jam, no pressure of work. The literary style and petty bourgeoisie here are easy to infect new people. The breeze blew, and the fragrance of flowers and faint ink came to the nose. The melodious piano music in the alley is accompanied by three or two dogs barking and birds singing from time to time, giving people the illusion of a paradise.
