Comrade Shen Dongping is from Wuyang County, Henan Province. The original surname was Zhang, and his name was Binggan. Before coming to Xihua, he changed his name to Shen Dongping. Not very smart, love reading, outstanding academic performance. However, due to poor family circumstances, he dropped out of school at an early age. In order to make progress in life and study, he used to be an apprentice in a grocery store. Work during the day and study at night. During his two-year apprenticeship, he couldn't bear it, was humiliated and scolded. He abandoned business to join the army. He was admitted to the cadet corps of a certain unit of the Northwest Army and trained in Luoyang for two years. After graduation, the student team works in a certain division. During this period, I got in touch with party member, who was engaged in secret work in the Ministry, and soon joined the China Producers' Party. From 1930, I took revolution as my profession, engaged in the secret work of the party, and moved to all parts of North China.
1934 was sent to xihua county by north China bureau to resume the party's activities in eastern Henan and open up anti-Japanese work. He successfully won over and transformed the powerful factions Hu, Qu Shenting and Hou Xiangshan in Xihua County, and developed them into special party member, which enabled our party to resume its activities in Xihua and eastern Henan. Then he successfully completed the work of Chu Bo, the head of the Kuomintang in Xihua County. Soon after, he won the cooperation of Liu Eqing, the Commissioner of Huaiyang District of Kuomintang, and we were hired as private secretaries by them. Party organizations were established in Xihua, Fugou, Huaiyang, Taikang, Shenqiu, Xiangcheng and other counties to mobilize the masses and set off a vigorous mass anti-Japanese movement in the vast plains of eastern Henan.
According to the instructions of the CPC Central Committee on establishing anti-Japanese democratic political power and developing people's anti-Japanese armed forces, Comrade Shen Dongping actively assisted Chu Bo in 1938, replacing the district heads of four districts and most of the directors of joint insurance in the county with party member or young people who were progressive in thinking and willing to unite against Japan, thus creating a preliminary anti-Japanese democratic foundation for our party in Xihua County. Under his leadership, Xihua, Huaiyang, Fugou, Taikang, Shenqiu, Xiangcheng and other counties have held various training courses and trained thousands of cadres. With the fall of Xuzhou and the shortage of eastern Henan, he followed the instructions of the Henan Provincial Party Committee and organized more than 5,000 people's anti-Japanese armed forces in Xihua County. Unfortunately, in July 1938, Xihua People's Anti-Japanese Self-Defense Force went to Shuidong to fight against Japan and died heroically.
I heard that the name Shen Dongping was in the spring of 1936, when I was a primary school teacher in our village. That spring, ten rooms were empty and the people were in dire straits. Sometimes people rob food. One day, I asked Liu Xuejing, director of UNPROFOR, what happened? He said to me mysteriously: that was invited by Hu, a teacher at Lingtougang Primary School, and instructed Hu to do it. This is different from ordinary bandits grabbing food. Are * * * producers. I said: I heard that one Mr. Shen and two Mr. Wang are producers of * * *. How did Hu and * * * producers get together? Does he really believe in the * * * production party? He said: not only faith, but also loyalty! Mr. Shen Dongping is a leader. This man is very capable. Listen to him. You know Hu is the most arrogant person. Who can make Hu move when he is around for 30 or 20 miles? But only Shen Dongping told him to do whatever he wanted. Some people under Hu are mostly poor friends. Nine times out of ten, there was a spring drought this year, and people couldn't talk about it and complained bitterly. Shen Dong and Hu agreed to do so. In this case, people from more than ten miles around kept up with Hu, and Hu's power increased. * * * The foundation of the production party has also deepened. I said: Just look at what the producer is like. Because Liu Xuejing was the director of UNPROFOR and a small landlord at that time, I didn't know his attitude towards the producer of * * *, so I didn't dare to ask more questions.
After gaining a firm foothold in Hu family, Comrade Shen Dongping, with the approval of the North China Bureau, sent several comrades to Xihua. In order to have a proper occupation as a cover, Hu used his influence to forcibly tear down several temples in the surrounding ten miles, set up a complete primary school in Lingtougang, built two teaching buildings, and included the public property of these temples in the school funds. Shen Dongping, Lu Yanling, Wang, Liu, Fan Yafeng and other comrades have come to our school to teach. During this period, the party's work was mainly to be the social elite and teaching work in Sangang area. Make friends and become sworn brothers, so as to gain a firm foothold and take root, and seldom go to the masses for activities. Only Comrade Shen Dongping often goes to other places for activities. At that time, some people said: Hu and * * * production party went online, and they will implement * * * production in Xihua in the future. These foreign gentlemen are all producers of * * *. Hu has fallen out with the Kuomintang, and if he wants to join the * * * production party again, he will make a scene. I don't know what will happen in the future Some people also said: These people are not producers of * * *, but Hu and Wei Fenglou went to Shandong to meet Feng Yuxiang and prepare to pull the team. Feng Yuxiang and Wei Fenglou are also captains (Wei Yuan is Feng's soldier) and Hu is a teacher. These foreign gentlemen are all ready to help the Hula team. Mr. Shen is the leader, and Hu listens to him most. He may be Hu's chief of staff in the future.
Hu He met Feng Yuxiang in Taishan and Weifenglou. That's for Feng Yuxiang to make a comeback and plan to form the Chahar People's Anti-Japanese Coalition. Lu Yanling (that is, Lu Yanling) is a staff member of Wei Fenglou. He went with Wei and Hu and met Hu. Later, due to Chiang Kai-shek's obstruction, the Chahar people's anti-Japanese Coalition failed, and Wei and Hu's activities naturally gave up. At this moment, our comrades working in Feng Yuxiang learned about Xihua. /kloc-in the winter of 0/934, the North China Bureau sent Comrade Shen Dongping to find Lu Yanling, ready to win over Hu. Introduced by Lu Yanling, Shen Dong and Hu Xiao met for the first time. They chatted all day and were very speculative. When Shen Dongping discussed the anti-Japanese proposition of the * * * production party, the national political situation and Hu's way out, Hu, who had lived in the mainland for a long time, was suddenly enlightened. The next day, I will continue to talk with Qu Shenting and Hou Xiangshan. They talked and laughed freely until late at night. With the approval of the North China Bureau, Comrade Shen Dongping lives in the Hu family. Since then, the party has started the reconstruction of Xihua, and it often travels between Xihua and Yudong.
Comrade Shen Dongping appeared in public activities as a teacher of Lingtougang Complete Primary School (later changed to Puli School), and everyone knows that he is Mr. Shen of this school. No matter students, faculty members or people around them, whenever Shen Dongping is mentioned, they all give him a thumbs up and praise him, and they all regard him as a mentor. No matter who comes into contact with him, he feels close and unforgettable.
1in the spring of 937, the primary schools in our village were closed due to the disaster. Liu Xuejing said to me: Now you have one thing to do. I said, you just look at me and I'll go. He said: Mr. Shen asked me to find someone to run our joint library, and use the library to organize a reading party, so that young students who dropped out of school could get together and engage in some reading and learning activities. Books in the library need to be bought by donations. You should go running and donate some money. In the future, Mr. Shen from Lingtougang Primary School will organize a unified book purchase. When I think about it, I have nothing to read. It's great to have books to read. I said yes. After running for two months, I pledged more than 20 yuan, but only received 3.5 yuan in cash. So I didn't buy any books, and the reading meeting didn't open. At the end of the wheat harvest, Liu Xuejing said to me: Shen Dongping said that he could not open a reading club and a library, but would hold an anti-Japanese support club to organize assistance to the anti-Japanese fighters ahead. It stopped because of the bumper wheat harvest.
After the wheat harvest, there was only some publicity, but no actual action. Around August and September, Liu Xuejing couldn't hold the anti-enemy support meeting, and held a mobilization committee, which was run by the United Insurance Company. He also said that a Mr. Liu had been to Lingtougang, and he was in charge of this matter and asked me to organize it. The members of the Mobilization Committee are the insurance directors of various insurance companies and some upper-class people, with more than 20 people. Only 12 people attended the inaugural meeting of the UNPROFOR office. At the meeting, Liu Xuejing was elected as the chairman and Yin Anren (Zaokou) and Liu Zhijun (Zhu Wanji) as the vice-chairmen.
My direct contact with Comrade Shen Dongping in my work was in the winter of 1937, when the Yudong Special Committee finished the training course for anti-Japanese cadres in Lingtougang. 1937 Before the Double Ninth Festival, he said to me, "Mr. Shen and his family set up a training class in Lingtougang to train anti-Japanese cadres. Do you want to go? We need a lot of cadres to organize the Japanese team in the future, and we just need you young people. If you like, you can also find some of your good comrades for the time being. This is our Whampoa Military Academy in Xihua County, which has a bright future. " Later, Liu, Liu, Zhu and other five people were invited to report after the Double Ninth Festival. After studying for more than twenty days, Qu and Liu introduced five of us to join the Party. Five party member were developed at once, which attracted the attention of Comrade Shen Dongping. Since the spring, I have organized activities such as "Reading Club", "Anti-enemy Support Club" and "Mobilization Committee", all of which are tasks assigned by Comrade Shen Dongping. I heard that I joined the party, and he came to attend the graduation assignment. When introduced to me, Comrade Shen Dongping said, "Ah! You are Liu Liye, and I have known you for half a year. "
Ping and Liu let's discuss how to do our guarantee work well. This is the first time since we joined the party that we have accepted the task assigned by the party. We are all very excited. You talked for a while and thought that the main difficulty was the poor work of Changbao, landlords and local gentry. They don't nod or talk, and the masses dare not move. That is, students and young farmers are obedient and willing to follow, and these people will be destroyed in a few words. Comrade Shen Dongping said: Don't be afraid of this and that in the revolution. As the saying goes, "rationality can travel all over the world, but irrationality cannot move." At present, the main propaganda is anti-Japanese, love the motherland, love the people, and swear to die improperly. Dare to bump and touch, be fearless. You are all locals, three or five miles, ten miles and eight miles. You are either relatives or friends, and you have many advantages. You can get help from Liu Xuejing, director of the joint insurance department. For the sake of the party's work, we must deal with those Jiabao leaders, landlords and local gentry. Under the present circumstances, if we want to organize the masses to follow us, we must first do their work well. Chiang Kai-shek was so powerful that he relied on the political power of landlords to rule, exploit and suppress the revolution. We are now taking advantage of the excellent political situation of national unity and cooperation in resisting Japan to compete with Chiang Kai-shek for the masses, liberate them from his hands and unite around us. This is called "taking a salary from the bottom of the pot" or "poaching". If we can successfully dig everywhere, the reactionary ruling building built by Chiang Kai-shek will collapse! However, this kind of work to win over the masses must start from above, because the masses are afraid of these small heads, and we should not only see that these small heads are backward and reactionary, but also see that they can be used. We promote anti-Japanese, but he can't say that he is willing to be a traitor! Besides, most people are patriotic. We can take these little heads as the object of United front, actively make friends with them and win their support. Of course, it is better to win over some people, but if we can't win over them, we can do without opposing us for the time being. Comrade Shen Dongping's words not only talked about the task, but also instilled strategic thinking, both about the steps and methods of work. Finally, Comrade Shen Dongping said: You should form a group headed by Liu Liye, and the group should discuss more to prevent trouble.
Shortly after the Spring Festival, Comrade Shen Dongping invited several of us to Liu Xuejing's house for a meeting. Five party member, surnamed Liu, set up a party branch in our village, appointed me as the party branch secretary, and instructed us to organize everyone to join the joint guarantee within two months, and each insurance company should train five or seven young backbones. According to the needs of the development of the situation, all levels of development in the county, can no longer be limited to the third district. The four of you (Liu, Liu, Liu Xueshan and Liu Liye) are going to transfer to other places to open up new jobs.
About half a month after the branch was established, I went to Lingtougang to report my work to Comrade Shen Dongping. He conveyed to me the decision of the county party committee:
First, the comrades who studied in the training class last year, except a few who had to stay and stick to their hometown work, should develop outside the three districts and open up the work situation in the county. Second, focus on cultivating the backbone of new fields. Many high school students and junior high school students drop out of school in rural areas. They are eager to find a way out. Most of them are dissatisfied with the reality, have the requirements of transforming society and have patriotic enthusiasm for resisting Japan and saving the country. Therefore, these people are the easiest to transfer. Third, do more local hourly workers. These people will affect some people. As long as a person's work is done well, some people around him will be easy to deal with. We can avoid contact with the elderly locals first, because most of them hate him, or we may be divorced from the masses. If the landlord takes the initiative to find us, don't hide from him, try to let him help us with our work. If he comes to the mass meeting voluntarily, you can also ask him to say a few words. Fourth, we should attach importance to women's work. At present, our women's work is basically blank. We urgently need some female cadres. Because you have no lesbians, it is difficult for you young people to talk to their eldest daughter and kannika nimtragol. They must be mobilized to participate in the war of resistance, and they also need liberation. Emancipating women is an important task. Fifth, the issue of living expenses. In the previous paragraph, you worked from home. You all ate your own food, did the work of the party, and some people abandoned the soil. This is a revolutionary spirit. Now go out of town, I'll send you some letters and have dinner at these friends' houses. You can make do with some money, and if you can't find a place to eat, you can buy a cake. Going to these friends' homes is not only to solve the accommodation problem, but also to ask them to help with their work. Sixth, take a group from Xiaoyao, Laowo and Hezhuang to the 34th district of Zhuanqiao, where you can do some anti-Japanese propaganda work, spread our influence, make some revolutionary friends and meet some activists. You go this time, just like a singer coming out first and stepping onto the stage. If you encounter difficulties in your work, you should discuss them more and think of ways. There will be difficulties. Don't be afraid. You will succeed as long as you dare to do it.
Following Comrade Shen Dongping's instructions, we stayed in the west of the third and fourth districts for five days, held a mass meeting in the street and delivered a speech on resisting Japan and saving the nation. Many people are still asking: Will the Japanese devils really come? He's here. Isn't he fighting the army? And kill ordinary people? I heard that Japan is very small, not as big as ours. Dare you bully us? Most people say: the country is going to war. We can pay some money, but we can't be conquered people! I also met several enlightened old people who read books, and they all said, "What you said is good things to be loyal to the monarch and love the people. Since ancient times, there has been a saying that the people should love their country and the country should love their people. With the country, there is a home. If they die, they will die. The ancients said, "If the skin doesn't exist, how can the hair be attached?" As the saying goes, "conquered people is not as good as SangGuQuan". Since ancient times, people who are willing to be conquered have no good end. With a population of 450 million, can you still beat a small Japan? As long as we publicize this, we will surely defeat the Japanese.
When we arrived at the brick bridge, we saw that people in the street looked a little nervous. I didn't know I was surrounded by bandits until I asked.
We could not work, so we left the next day. The four of us went out of the north gate of the brick bridge and walked four miles north along a main road. Suddenly, three men stood out from the cemetery in front, holding guns and shouting: Stop! Hands up. Come alone first. I went to them first and told them that I was a student sent by the county education bureau to publicize the war of resistance against Japan. I visited Xixia Pavilion, Xiaoyao, Laowo and Hezhuang. About one day in early February of the lunar calendar, Comrade Shen Dongping sent a message asking me to meet at the post (referring to Lingtougang). He said: it's good that you didn't get caught by bandits at the brick bridge and came back smoothly without telling them. You improvise with the bad guys, and you won't lose. This is progress.
He made the following arrangements for the next step: now the situation is developing well, the voice of national unity in the war of resistance is very high, the cooperation between countries is developing smoothly, and the national anti-Japanese national United front has basically taken shape, which is very beneficial to our work. Our work plan must also be changed. Chu county magistrate is very active and determined to cooperate with us to the end. He has appointed Wei Fenglou as the first district head and will appoint (Hu) as the second district head. So our work should be expanded:
(1) Qian, a famous person in Chu County, organized a training course for anti-Japanese cadres in the county, recruiting students from the county, focusing on training local young students and primary school teachers. Prepare to transfer Liu to the work training class. (2) You transfer the Fourth United Insurance Company to the Seventh United Insurance Company and work there. I'm writing to ask Wu Jingxin, director of United Insurance Company, to stay at his house. You can discuss all the work with him and ask him to help you more. In addition to ordinary propaganda and organizing the masses, the task is to organize the Self-Defense Forces first, and to organize all weapons, whether fast guns, broadswords or red tassels, into the Self-Defense Forces. But don't change the original gunman. Because most gunmen are gun owners, and a few are close friends of gun owners. If they change, they will be in trouble. (3) Your joint guarantee (that is, the fourth joint guarantee) is the responsibility of Shi Desheng, a teacher of Zaokou Primary School. Men between the ages of eighteen and forty-nine can become self-defense members. All rifles, red cherry guns and broadswords are used by the Self-Defense Forces. Armed men between the ages of 18 and 30 usually undertake the task of guarding the house and protecting the hospital, and they are militia guerrillas in wartime. Now it can also be called the armed self-defense forces. Men over the age of 50 can form an elderly guidance group. These old people have social experience and ideas. In the future, when the Japanese make a phone call, they can find a way to fight the enemy. These young children are relatively pure, well-educated and not the main labor force in the family, so it is easy to organize activities. This is the reserve force of the Self-Defense Forces. Men and women under the age of twelve and over the age of six can form children's groups. We should attach importance to the education of children, and carry out the education of patriotism and love for the nation and the people from an early age. If the war of resistance lasts for ten years and eight years, they will all be useful people. Girls over the age of thirteen form a sisterhood. They are pure-minded and eager for liberation. They are most afraid that the Japanese devils can't run away when they come, and envy those female students who don't bind their feet. It's best if you can find two female students with feet full to follow you in your work. You can also run literacy classes and teach them to read. We should do all kinds of work well, not force it. Daughters-in-law under 45 are all organized into the women's team. This part of people's desire for liberation is the most urgent. Because they not only have to bear the burden of housework and raising children, but also bear the oppression of their mother-in-law and husband. Therefore, to do their work, we should also do the work of husbands and mothers-in-law. Women over 46 are organized as wives' parties. These housewives have a great influence on their children and daughter-in-law in the family. Without her job, her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law can't go out.
The above mass organizations are all organized into groups with A, ensuring that they are organized into teams, with team leaders and team leaders. You can also have one or two deputies. We should organize more collective activities, give them tasks, and conduct political education and military training respectively.
I was very excited when I left home after accepting the task. I feel that the party told me to go out and work independently, which is a kind of trust and cultivation for me. I must try my best to do my job well, and I can't live up to Comrade Shen Dongping's education.
I arrived at Jason Wu's new home on time and stayed in his backyard guest room. Accompanied by Wu Jingxin, I went to various insurance companies to meet with little people such as Chang Bao and Shen Tu, and explained my work tasks, asking them to help me in the future. Then go to Baokai to hold a mass meeting, publicize the idea of resisting Japan and saving the country, defend my hometown and start work.
One day in early March, Comrade Shen Dongping came, and I reported to him the work situation for nearly a month. He said: after the propaganda work, the masses know that the Japanese devils are coming, and the disaster of national subjugation and extinction is imminent. We must unite to defeat Japan. That's good.
Comrade Shen Dongping changed the subject and said: I discussed with Commissioner Liu E of Huaiyang that he wanted to be famous and pay for it, and we sent someone to run a training class for anti-Japanese cadres. School starts in the middle of this month. Commissioner is a national party member, a member of the Old League, progressive in thinking and patriotic. He was very dissatisfied with Chiang Kai-shek's one-party dictatorship, dictatorship and corruption, undemocratic and non-implementation of the Three People's Principles, and with Japan's compromise and surrender. He is very much in favor of our party's patriotic ideas such as the anti-Japanese democratic United front and the ten-point program for resisting Japan and saving the nation, and is willing to cooperate with us in resisting Japan. I have arranged all the faculty and staff. You also go, study and work at the same time. Mainly when students, learn some military, good guerrilla warfare in the future. It belongs to the propaganda department of saving the country (that is, the club). In addition to district heads, district councilors and joint insurance directors, some unemployed students and teachers are recruited, and all counties will leave. After studying, go back to work in counties. There is hardly any party member in it. This is the list of party member: one in Huaiyang, two in Fugou and two in Xihua. The training course for anti-Japanese cadres in Huaiyang District is located in an agricultural and forestry school near Taihao Mausoleum in Beiguan. At the beginning of school, a field service group came from the first war zone and forcibly took over the training course. They scold the * * * production party, student bandits and corrupt officials every day, without strict training. More than half a month later, 100 students were expelled on trumped-up charges. Two or three days after AFS escaped, Comrade Hao Jiuting took six or seven people to school. After two days of rectification work, three squadrons were formed, with 400 people. Comrade Shen Dongping is here. He said with a smile, isn't this kind of struggle very interesting? You did a great job! Getting rid of AFS is a great victory. Isn't it ours now? The situation changed rapidly, and the Taierzhuang War ended, with heavy casualties on both sides. Xuzhou is in danger, and the training course won't last long. You should step up your studies and graduate quickly. Mainly study the strategy and tactics of guerrilla warfare against Japan.
Around May 25th, Comrade Shen Dongping came again. The following instructions are given:
(1) Xuzhou fell, and the situation in northern Anhui and eastern Henan was tense. Japan will soon advance westward along Longhai Road, occupy Zhengzhou and threaten Xi and Wuhan. Huaiyang area will soon be occupied by the enemy. The Kuomintang troops on the eastern plains of Henan and Anhui will not be holed up. We will wage guerrilla warfare and oppose Japanese imperialism. The training course should be over soon. Finally, we should mobilize students to return to counties, persist in defending our families against Japan, mobilize the masses, organize guerrillas and fight guerrillas with the Japanese devils.
After the training class, I went back to the county and found Comrade Shen Dongping. He told me that I would go back to work in the third district and go to the district department to find peace. The three of you will form a regional committee, and Wang Xuewu will be the secretary of the regional committee.
Anti-Japanese self-defense groups are established in the county, and district groups are established in each district. Each district group has two or three brigades, and each brigade has three squadrons; Each squadron has 120 to 150 people.
Each district shall set up a political office of the district regiment, which shall be responsible for the formation of troops. You and Comrade Wu Xue are the directors of the Political Department respectively, responsible for daily and overall work. Important things should be discussed with Qu Shenting and done after getting his consent.
Each joint guarantee can recruit 20 guns to form a self-defense group. Form a brigade and collect if necessary. Everyone needs a steel gun and a hundred bullets. Don't hit five with dirt. These guns and ammunition should be reported to someone. Borrow guns and ammunition from landlords, and don't send money to the masses to buy them.
After the establishment of the army, the distribution of food supply funds should be based on the principle of giving money and donating money, adopting the method of donating food by rich households, and donating food according to the actual situation of local owners. Allocation by management unit is not allowed.
The directors of joint venture insurance companies should be replaced if they are unreliable, and those who can cooperate with us and are willing to resist Japan should unite. Each co-signer may send one or two pro-democracy movement instructors to take charge of mass work. You can also set up one or two staff members to assist the teachers.
This unit should be set up around June 10th according to the method of the Eighth Route Army. Each squadron should have a political instructor, and each detachment should have a political fighter in charge of political work. Political instructors and squadron leaders are officers at the same level. They discuss and handle the affairs of the company.
Immediately after the formation of the troops, military and political training was carried out. The first is the education of resisting Japan and saving the country and defending the country. Let cadres and soldiers know that our army is different from the Kuomintang and warlord forces. It was organized by the people to defend the country, and it was a people's army like the Eighth Route Army. So we call it "Xihua County People's Anti-Japanese Self-Defense Group". Secondly, we trained the strategy and tactics of anti-Japanese guerrilla warfare so that everyone can learn to fight guerrilla warfare. We must also engage in assassination and bombing training, and prepare to fight devils, bayonets and broadswords.

What I admire most is his application of the Party's anti-Japanese national united front. He can win all kinds of progressive forces, make use of all available progressive factors, and minimize hostile forces in the work of our party. Under the banner of the anti-Japanese national United front, the anti-Japanese mass movement in eastern Henan was widely carried out, and the Xihua People's Anti-Japanese Self-Defense Force of more than 5,000 people was successfully established.
