After the publication of General Biology edited by Mr. Wang in 1997, according to Mr. Chen's wishes, we revised and completed the second edition of General Biology in 2005. This revision has changed the structure of the 1 version, telling the structure and life of animals and plants respectively. Except for two chapters, everything has been updated and the chapters have been rewritten. In 2009, according to the opinions of teachers and students who used the textbook, we further revised and rewritten all the chapters of the book, and published the third edition of General Biology in Chen Yuehtseng. [ 1]

After the publication of the third edition, we continue to pay attention to the great progress of the world life sciences and the reform of biology courses, and are ready to further revise them at an appropriate time. On June 20 12, all editors discussed and revised the third edition. We believe that the third edition basically meets the needs of teaching, but due to the new progress of life science, some chapters need to be revised and supplemented. For example, in recent years, due to the development of molecular biology and cell ultrastructure research, a new biological multi-level classification system has gradually formed, that is, a three-domain multi-boundary classification system; The newly discovered giant virus has expanded people's understanding of the virus; The protection of biological species and biological problems has attracted more attention and needs to be included in the teaching content of general biology, and so on.
