General classification of China
The common classifications in China are China Library Classification and China Library Classification.

China Library Classification is a comprehensive classification widely used by libraries and information institutions in China. It divides human knowledge into 22 categories, the basic order is: Marxism-Leninism, philosophy, social science, natural science and comprehensive books.

China Library Classification is based on China Library Classification, which was refined and revised by China Institute of Science and Technology Information in conjunction with relevant units according to the needs of scientific and technological literature. It is consistent with China Library Classification in the aspects of system structure, category setting and marking symbols.

China Library Classification and China Library Classification were both compiled in 1980s. At that time, with the deepening of China's reform and opening up, libraries and intelligence units were faced with the organization and management of a large amount of knowledge and information. In order to meet the readers' demand for knowledge and information and improve the service quality of library and information units, these two-part classification methods came into being.

Comprehensiveness: China Library Classification and China Library Classification are comprehensive classifications, covering all fields of human knowledge, including social science, natural science and comprehensive books.

High degree of subdivision: both of these two-part classification methods adopt a high degree of subdivision, and each topic is divided and classified in detail. This makes it easier for readers to find the information they need.

Inclusiveness: These two-part classification methods absorb the advantages of existing classification methods at home and abroad, and also combine the actual situation and cultural characteristics of China, so they are inclusive.

Update in time: With the change and development of knowledge and information, these two-part classification laws will be updated and revised in time to ensure that they meet the needs of the times.

Although China Library Classification and China Library Classification are basically the same in system structure, category setting and marking symbols, there are some differences in specific content and application. China Library Classification pays more attention to academics and professionalism, while China Library Classification pays more attention to practicality and popularization.
