The library was established in August at Nanshan Road 1956, Hangzhou, formerly known as the Library of Hangzhou Normal University. 1957 moved to Stadium Road with the school in March. 1958, the school was upgraded to Hangzhou Normal University, and the library was renamed accordingly. 1In June, 962, Zhejiang Institute of Education, Zhejiang Institute of Physical Education and Hangzhou Normal University merged to form Zhejiang Normal University. The original three libraries were merged into one and named as Zhejiang Normal University Library. Gymnasium Road Campus is the main library, and Wensan Street Campus and Wen Yi Street Campus each have a branch library. 1In August, 965, Zhejiang Normal University moved from Hangzhou to Jinhua, and the library moved south with the school.

The building area of Shao Pavilion is 1022 1 m2, with reasonable design, good construction quality and advanced equipment in the province at that time. Since the early 1990s, the library has implemented computer management for the purchase, cataloging and circulation of books and periodicals.
At the end of 1997, a large electronic reading room and an advanced CD retrieval network were built. In order to meet the requirements of developing and utilizing library information resources under the network environment, our library began to upgrade the original computer management system at the beginning of 1998. 1July, 1998, based on the principle of advanced, practical and economical, the implementation plan was formed. The new system includes six modules: interview, cataloging, circulation, periodical, public inquiry and system.
1September, 1999, the upgrade of the library management information system was officially completed, and the network management of the collection information was realized. In August, 2000, "China Academic Journals Mirror Station" was completed, and the library automation management system was connected with campus network, CERNET network and INTERNET network, which initially realized the * * * sharing of information resources.
