Mingde Middle School was founded in 1903 with a history of 95 years. It is one of the earliest middle schools in Hunan Province. Mr. Hu Yuanxian, the founder, is a famous educator in modern China. Mingde has a glorious revolutionary tradition and rich experience in running a school. Mr. Huang Xing, the founder of the Revolution of 1911, Chen Tianhua Yao Hongye, a revolutionary martyr, Ren Zhou Ouyang Qin, a proletarian revolutionary, Vice Chairman the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) and many other people with lofty ideals worked, studied or engaged in revolutionary activities in Mingde successively. Chen, a veteran of the Kuomintang, also studied in Mingde. In different historical periods, Mingde has trained a large number of outstanding talents for the Chinese nation, including 22 academicians of China Academy of Sciences, which is known as the "cradle of academicians". As early as 1930s, the reputation of "Nankai in the north and Mingde in the south" spread all over the education circle in China. After the founding of New China, Mingde Middle School has been further developed. After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, the school has entered a new period of development. 1980 was re-established as a provincial key middle school and a provincial traditional sports school (men's basketball team) by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education. 1995 passed the acceptance of the provincial education commission and officially hung the plaque of "Key Middle School in Hunan Province". The campus is located in Xiangchun West Road, adjacent to the Xiangjiang River scenic belt, covering an area of 40,000 square meters and a building area of 30,000 square meters. The campus layout is complete and the planning is reasonable. Chengde Building, Dacai Building and Lechengtang have their own characteristics and are integrated into one. Lecheng Hall, the central building, was built in 1932, which is the earliest cement frame building in Changsha. In 1988, it was overhauled as it was, and it was majestic. In the same year, it was revoked as Mingde Science Museum. The Huangxing Library, built in 1993, has a building area of 2 100 square meters, which is elegant and spectacular, and is the best among middle school libraries in the province. The library can hold up to 300,000 books, which can accommodate six classes of students. The 800-square-meter art museum is well-trained in calligraphy, painting and literature. The statues of Hu Yuanxian, Huang Xing and Zhou are admired by later generations. The school is shaded by trees, with ponds, gardens, fountains and lawns. Beautiful environment and pleasant scenery. The Science Museum is fully equipped with physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, language laboratories and technical classrooms. The whole school has built four systems: color TV center control system, computer network system, intra-school communication system and principal's office, which provide good conditions for cultivating students' all-round development, giving full play to their specialties and further study. The school playground is spacious, with 8 basketball courts, 4 volleyball courts, gymnasium, track and field and football field, which is a good place for teachers and students to exercise.
