Abstract: University library is a place where knowledge base is concentrated, with a large number of books and other carriers. So how to build a library with academic emphasis and characteristic collection services to better meet the information needs of teaching and scientific research is a problem that we have to discuss directly at present.

Under the network environment, the service of the library has been seriously challenged, especially the service of the new library is far from meeting the needs of readers. In this environment, the library can only keep pace with the times if it finds a new service concept as soon as possible and constructs a good service with discipline characteristics.

First of all, use the existing literature resources to build a library with its own characteristics.

There is often a phenomenon of repeated construction of literature resources in university libraries. There are too many copies of documents in some subjects, especially some public subjects and marginal subjects in our school. And the version is different, traditional book management? Re-hide and light use? The concept is more prominent, the libraries are more closed, and the phenomenon of resource waste and idleness is widespread, which is not conducive to the enjoyment of resources. So how to use the existing books and literature resources to build a library with its own characteristics?

(a) planning, balancing the distribution of disciplines, and building a database with discipline characteristics.

In the construction of the database, the library should screen the literature information according to the needs of various departments and specialties of the college, scientifically arrange and process it, form its own literature information base, and develop a large number of databases according to the advantages of its collection. According to the school's discipline focus and collection characteristics, select the appropriate database construction objectives, carry out planned and step-by-step construction, and establish a comprehensive and diverse database system as soon as possible. Give full play to their respective strengths, balance the distribution of disciplines, and realize the diversification and enrichment of Chinese information resources on the Internet. In addition, the construction of library collection and the structure of books and periodicals should first consider the professional literature of disciplines related to the professional setting of our school, especially the key disciplines, and the collections of dominant majors should be rich. For example, our college is a science and engineering college, and its main disciplines are finance, hydropower, agriculture and so on. Libraries should build databases according to these disciplines, improve the utilization efficiency of collections and meet the information needs of teaching and scientific research.

(B) the methods and approaches to the construction of characteristic databases

How to build a characteristic database? I think we should proceed from the characteristics of the library collection, combine the discipline specialty of our university, seize the key breakthrough, conduct experimental operation according to our abilities when selecting the characteristic database, accumulate work experience, try to solve various problems, and then build a large-scale database with complete functions on this basis.

After determining the topic selection direction of the self-built database, the information sources should be collected immediately. It is necessary not only to summarize and screen the collection resources, but also to make a work plan. In addition, in order to ensure the supplementary work of information resources, check and fill gaps, establish and expand unobstructed information resources collection channels, collect new information resources in time, and ensure the comprehensiveness, authority and immediacy of characteristic databases.

Second, strengthen network construction and correctly handle the relationship between traditional and modern library services.

Although there are essential differences between digital library and traditional library in media mode and information carrier, their modes are basically the same, and they all need to collect, sort out, store and borrow documents. The future digital library should be built on the entity of traditional library, and the two are interdependent and complementary. To speed up the information management of digital library is to replace the traditional book management, which is not conducive to the rapid, convenient and accurate use of book resources, reduce resource waste, and

Three, the library construction should adapt to and meet the needs of quality education.

Quality education puts forward new and higher requirements for the working concept, content and methods of university libraries. To this end, we should do:

(A) update the concept of active service instead of passive service.

Renew the traditional service concept, change passive service into active service, and change shallow bibliographic service into deep document information service. Establish a people-oriented idea, send services to readers, attract a large number of potential readers to the library, and provide readers with various information services.

(2) Improve the cultural atmosphere of the library and establish the concept of resource sharing.

As a cultural and educational institution, the library should embody the cultural atmosphere everywhere and meet the knowledge needs of readers at all times. Therefore, whether it is hardware construction such as buildings, equipment, books and periodicals, or software environment such as management level and personnel quality, it should be conducive to the formation of a good academic and cultural atmosphere. The construction and sharing of literature information resources is one of the goals of library construction. We should make full use of computer network technology to provide services for the educational development of our school.

(3) Strengthen the quality of library collections and cultivate students' ability to retrieve and use information.

Perfecting the collection construction is the foundation of running a good university library. The quality of collection directly affects the effect of quality education. Purchasing personnel should go deep into the demand of circulation department, reading room and department for books and periodicals, and use this as the purchasing basis to purchase excellent books and periodicals with high academic value and improve the quality of college students in all aspects. Therefore, in addition to introducing the basic knowledge of library collection distribution and book classification to students, it is more important to set up? Literature information retrieval and utilization? Class. Improve students' information awareness and computer retrieval ability, and constantly enhance the consciousness of modern retrieval means.

Four, the library should strengthen the improvement of the quality of librarians.

(2) Computer knowledge

Computer is the hardware resource of application network. As a librarian, you should not only have the ability to use the terminal to retrieve information or write general programs, but also have the ability to design information sources and guide retrieval, and also understand and be familiar with the basic distribution of network resources, especially the collection. Master the path of obtaining resources from the network, guide readers as needed, make use of network resources to compile some online reading guidance systems and index online resources.

(3) Relevant professional knowledge and foreign language knowledge

Librarians should have extensive professional knowledge, master the performance of various carriers, guide readers to use various carrier information and use network resources to find the required information. In addition, we should master relevant foreign language knowledge, because the library work under the network environment will carry out international exchanges and cooperation, and various language literature resources will appear. Only by mastering a foreign language can we consult documents skillfully and make the use of information technology and diplomatic materials play a greater role.
