Would you like to be a free library volunteer?
It depends. If it is a large public library or a cool private library, of course I will. But if it is a school library with few books and no features, I don't think it is necessary to volunteer.

First of all, for a child like me who grew up in a library, it is great to have the opportunity to work in the library. It doesn't matter whether I get paid or not. I like the atmosphere of the library and enjoy this quiet and relaxed state. If this library itself is very formal, with a large number of books, a long history and an open space, I am happy to volunteer here, regardless of salary, just for my personal preference.

Besides, volunteering in the library is actually not a big workload. Generally, sorting out books and registering to borrow and return books are relatively simple tasks. In my spare time, I can have a lot of time to read books and materials that I am interested in. And many libraries will have small benefits, such as getting a library card without paying a deposit. Even if there is no salary, it is actually an intangible wealth, which can enrich your knowledge.

And as a volunteer, after a certain period of time, you can negotiate with the library and issue a volunteer card. On the one hand, it can prove that you are willing to contribute and volunteer for free, on the other hand, it can enrich your resume. It is also good for future development.

As for why I don't want to go to the school library, it's just my personal preference. I think many university libraries mainly exist as study rooms, and the internal collections are mostly professional books, which is not in line with my usual scope. Volunteering in such a place can neither satisfy one's interests nor improve oneself well. Isn't it silly to work for free for a position you don't like?
