The call number is the number of each book in the library. This number has a certain structure and specific meaning. In the book collection system, each call number is unique, which can accurately determine the arrangement position of the collected books on the shelf and is very necessary code information for readers to find books.
The first part of the call number is the classification number used according to the subject theme of the book. The book classification table currently adopted by our library is China Library Classification (4th edition). Because there are classification numbers in the call number, books on the same subject can be arranged on the bookshelf in a centralized way, which plays a role in facilitating readers to find them.
The second part of the call number is the sequence number used according to the time of book entry. The larger the value, the newer the version.
The third part of the call number is the volume number and year identification number, which are not available in every book, and should be identified as needed.
