There are four recreation centers on the campus of HKU for students to use, namely: Zaler Xu Star Recreation Center, Zhuang Yueming Recreation Center, Pokfulam Recreation Center and Fangshuquan Recreation Center. There are theaters, restaurants, dance rehearsal rooms, auditoriums and other facilities outside each entertainment center for students to use. Some of them are also open to the public, such as two restaurants in Zhuang Yueming Civic Center. In addition, there are two gymnasiums in Pok Fu Lam Road, namely, Why Ladies Gym and Lai Menglian Gym, which are equipped with facilities such as volleyball court, basketball court, handball court, squash court, fitness room and 25m swimming pool. In addition, there is also Stanley Ho Sports Ground in Shawan Trail, where there are natural grass and double grass courts, which can be used for 1 1 people football, hockey, softball and other activities. There are also six rubber tennis courts and a 50m standard swimming pool. The main building of the University of Hong Kong, 19 10, was completed on February 26th. The oldest building is the main building. The building is supported by the granite colonnade of Renaissance architecture mode, with a tower and four turrets at the top, which has a typical western architectural style. This building is not only the base camp of the College of Liberal Arts, but also the first choice for Hong Kong college students to shoot graduation photo, among which Lu Youtang is the theater location for Lust, Caution students.
The University Hall at the top of Pokfulam Road is a striking combination of Tudor and Goethe architectural features. The University Hall was built by Scottish businessman Douglas in 186 1 as the headquarters and residence of the company, hence the name "Fort Douglas". 1894, a French missionary group bought the building, renovated and added it on a large scale, and then moved out in 1953. The University of Hong Kong acquired this building on 1954, and changed it into a male dormitory from 1956, and renamed it University Hall.
There are elegant steps outside the university auditorium, while there are antique libraries and spiral stairs inside, which are the characteristics of the building. Many Hong Kong films have been filmed in this building, including Chivalrous Man and city of glass.
Deng Zhiang Building Deng Zhiang Building is an ancient building of the University of Hong Kong. Located on the campus of Pok Fu Lam Road, Hong Kong Island, near Pok Fu Lam Road. Donated by Sir Shiukin Kang's father, Deng Zhiang, on 1929, it was used as the Chinese College of HKU.
Deng Zhi 'ang Mansion is a flat-topped building with a height of 1, with three floors. The exterior wall is paved with washing water, and the decorative pattern is simple. There are five small balconies on the outer wall of the second floor. The building was unveiled on September 28th, 193 1, and is now the Asian Studies Center of the University of Hong Kong. Hing Ying Hung Lou Hong Xing Ying Lou is an ancient building of the University of Hong Kong. It is located in Pokfulam Road campus on Hong Kong Island, opposite the exit of the building. The building was completed and opened in 19 19. Its appearance has become a legal monument in Hong Kong since 1985. It used to be the student union building of HKU, but now it is used by the Music Department of the Art College.
Kadoorie Building The Kadoorie Bioscience Building of the University of Hong Kong was once rated as the best building in Asia because of its high-tech design, which is comparable to the HSBC Building.
This 10-storey building is supported by eight inverted pyramid-shaped columns with a height of 10. Under the symmetrical steel arc roof, it is the core part of the building-the high-tech laboratory. Laboratory equipment can cooperate with the ever-changing scientific research, which not only prolongs the life of the building, but also reduces the energy consumption and waste generation in the process of building renovation.
Dormitory "Dormitory" is a place where the University of Hong Kong provides students (especially undergraduates) with a common life. It is hoped that students can organize their own activities and learn from each other, so as to achieve "holistic education" outside the classroom and academically. The concept of "dormitory education" originated from the "college system" of universities such as Cambridge and Oxford in the United Kingdom, but HKU's dormitory did not have the academic teaching and independent enrollment functions of the college from the beginning, but evolved into a "dormitory" that only retained social and extracurricular education functions. Dormitory is mainly for accommodation and also for students. However, HKU also has a "student dormitory", which is a pure student living without any student organization. In addition, HKU also has a non-residential hall. Dormitory activities are colorful, but most of them are concentrated in the evening to the early morning, and some of them are compulsory courses for boarding students. There are only 36 male and female places in the "Student Accommodation Building". For students who live far away from HKU, there is only one dormitory to choose from. Because many boarding schools re-examine their re-admission qualifications every year according to the performance of boarding schools, students who want to concentrate on their studies or do not want to participate in too many extracurricular activities can only rent nearby private houses or apply for student apartments outside boarding schools. In addition, mainland students who rent out can get financial aid from the Student Development and Resource Center (cedars) of the University of Hong Kong.
At present, the University of Hong Kong has thirteen dormitories and three non-dormitories. These 13 dormitories are: Lady Ho Tung Memorial Hall, Li Shi Man Tang, Matteo Ricci Dormitory, Li Tang, St. John's College, Staade Hall, Taikoo Hall, University Hall, Weilun Hall, Tang, Lee Shau Kee Hall and Sun Zhixin Hall. These three non-residential halls are Corning Hall, Duchess of Ghent Hall and Li Zhixiong Memorial Hall. Among them, Lady He Dong Memorial Hall and Duchess Gunde are girls' halls, Matteo Ricci Dormitory, University Hall, Ma Lixun Hall (undergraduate part) and Corning Hall are boys' halls, and the rest are mixed-sex halls. In addition, Matteo Ricci Dormitory is hosted by the Catholic Jesuit Society and St. John's College is hosted by the Anglican Church, both of which are administratively independent of the University of Hong Kong.
In the history of HKU, there was also the Church of the Virgin Rose, but it was closed for some reason. Mingyuan Church was relocated in 1992 and renamed as Li Xi Shentang. Ma Lixun Concert Hall was closed on 1968 and reopened in 2005. However, the organizer has changed from the London Missionary Association and later the Chinese Christian Church to the university itself.
