1. Active seal design. The cover is the most important part of the cover, which not only conveys the content of the book, but also plays a role in catching the reader's eye at the first time. An excellent cover work plays an important role in the sales of books. The design of positive seal can be divided into two categories in terms of elements:
● Text-based design. The importance of each visual element is text → color → graphics/images, in which the role of text is to express the theme, and graphics/images are the auxiliary elements of the picture, while the design of color mainly plays the role of balancing text and images, making them cooperate and coordinate with each other. This design technique is mainly applied to book covers with serious, orthodox, abstract and solemn themes, and the characters do not need too many decorative features.
● Design based on graphics/images. The visual focus is graphic image → color → text. In the design, we should first choose the graphic image that can show the relationship with the book theme, and establish the basic color of the cover, and balance the relationship between the graphic/image and the text by using appropriate colors.
2. Design of the back cover. The back cover design is the continuation of the cover design creativity. By continuing the color and form of the cover on the back cover and transmitting continuous visual information, consumers can be more strongly impressed. Extending the aesthetic feeling of the cover is for the integrity of book design. Even a decorative symbol can radiate more expressive force in the whole structure, thus forming the continuity of visual form, inducing readers to enter the reading state with continuous and smooth visual fluidity, and maintaining horizontal continuity, which can cause the orderly flow of sight to the book.
Therefore, the design extending to the back cover should not be taken lightly, and it should be linked with the cover to show the effective space. Of course, in the structure, the variety of the back cover should be appropriate, the inducing factors of sight should be taken into account, and the priorities should be clear.
3. The design of spine. The spine occupies the smallest area in the cover and is often ignored. However, when a book is placed on the shelf, its function is even more important than the cover, because people can only see the spine of the book.
The design of spine is limited by the book thickness. As the protagonist, the title of the book has become an important part of the design, and clarity has become the principle of spine design. Usually the characters in the spine are arranged vertically, but some of them are arranged horizontally or vertically on the thick spine. The font is the same as the title of the sealed book, and the size and position of the text are arranged on the spine, which echoes the front cover and back cover.
4. Design of necking. Mouth is an extension of the lid that people see when they open it. Usually there will be a brief introduction to the contents of the book on the front cover, and the design factors of the front cover will also extend to the front cover. In addition, the front cover can be used as a detail of the front cover design, making the design of the whole book more harmonious and beautiful. The title of the author's resume, portrait and other works can be printed on the back cover, which can increase the publicity of the author and let readers have a more comprehensive understanding of the author.
