Guangzhou Institute of Physical Education was established in July, 1956. It is the only undergraduate physical education institution in South China, and one of the earliest professional physical education institutions in China since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and it is affiliated to the Guangdong Provincial People's Government.

Master's degree authorization

Guangzhou Institute of Physical Education is an existing university with the right to award master's degree in the first-class discipline of physical education (including all two master's degree points of physical education) and master's degree in sports medicine.

The school library covers an area of 20,600 square meters and has more than 525,000 books.

Teaching and administrative staff

At present, there are about 8,000 full-time students and 550 faculty members.
