Harbin Institute of Physical Education, referred to as "Harbin Institute of Physical Education", is located in nangang district, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. The school is affiliated to the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province. It is the main base for training talents in ice and snow sports in China, the only general physical education institution in Heilongjiang Province, an excellent institution for undergraduate teaching level evaluation by the Ministry of Education, and has the Education Development Center of the International Ice Hockey Federation (Harbin).

As of June 5438+ 10, 2023, the school has an ice and snow project and a postdoctoral research center. The school has the State Sports General Administration 1 Key Laboratory, Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education 1 Key Laboratory and Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology 1 Key Laboratory. It is the sports social science research base of the State Sports General Administration and the humanities social science research base of universities in Heilongjiang Province.

In terms of scientific research, the school took the lead in putting forward the land-ice-snow connection theory and the winter event group system of China's ice-snow sports technical training, taking the lead in making breakthrough research on the key technologies of the dominant events of the Winter Olympics, and taking the lead in carrying out the research on gene selection of ice-snow athletes from the perspective of cell and molecular biology, thus enriching the theoretical system of winter sports.

Harbin Institute of Physical Education Library was founded in 1958. Located in a high-rise residential building, it consists of a first floor and a basement. The first floor construction area is1500m2, and the underground construction area is about1000m2. The comprehensive archives room is located on the first floor of the administrative building, with an area of 150 square meters and a total construction area of 2650 square meters.

There are electronic reading area, foreign language borrowing area, reading area, book collection area and newspaper reading area on the first floor; A teacher's reading room and a special storage room for ice and snow majors are set up, with 282 reading seats.
