Introduction to the National Library of Singapore
The earliest library in Singapore was founded by Raffles Stanford, the founder of Singapore, in 1823. The public can borrow books from the school library, but they have to pay a small fee. 1957 Raffles National Library Act was promulgated, so this paid library officially became a free national library and public library. 1960165438+10/2, the National Library Building was officially opened. According to the National Archives and Records Center Act of 1967, archives were partially separated, but before 1970, archives and libraries were under the same roof until 65438. 1968 the amendment to the national library law specifies the functions of the national library in detail, emphasizing its leading position in the development and coordination of the national library cause.
