The library of Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai) was founded in 1988, with an area of 7842 square meters. At present, there are more than 400,000 books in Chinese and foreign languages, more than 800 Chinese and foreign periodicals 1800, more than 80 newspapers, more than 2,700 audio-visual materials, more than 900,000 e-books purchased from various databases 100, enjoyed and tried by * *.

Network Center was established in 2000, responsible for the planning, construction, operation, maintenance and management of campus network and information system. At present, the campus network of Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai) has been formed with 4 backbone nodes and 6,000 access information points, covering 90% of the campus and more than 30 buildings, providing services such as network information browsing, information release, e-mail, domain name resolution, file download, video on demand and video conference for teachers and students.

In 2003, the book automatic management system was introduced, which fully realized the automatic management of interview, cataloging, collection, circulation, continuous publication and public inquiry. The network retrieval room of 150 stands, 24 audio-visual rooms of 30 stands have been set up successively, equipped with working terminals such as photocopiers, recorders, photocopiers and printers, and a multi-type and multi-level document service system with information service as the core has been initially formed, which can provide services such as book borrowing, reference consultation, document retrieval, interlibrary loan, document reproduction and original text transmission.

In order to make up for the shortage of library resources, first of all, we have realized all * * * sharing of electronic resources with the general school from 200 1; Secondly, in 2004, we started a comprehensive inter-library cooperation with the library of Shanda Weihai Branch, and realized the one-card borrowing of paper documents, joint interview and * * * sharing of some electronic resources; In addition, we have established interlibrary loan agreements with Tsinghua University Library, China Academy of Sciences Library, National Science and Technology Library and China Academic Humanities and Social Sciences Library, and provided free original text delivery services.

Our library now has editing department, circulation department, periodical department, information technology department, network center, archives room, office and other business and administrative departments, with a variety of modern service means and functions. The school plans to build an independent library of 20,000 square meters in recent years, and will invest a lot of money in the construction of literature resources and digital libraries.
